OK, heres one for ya...

I always thought 240's were cool, but only recently aquired one... a '95 base model w/ an AT. Figures... first time in my life that the base comes with an AT.... anyways.

So, I'd realy like to do an sr20 or ka-t, but the justification to my wife (the controler of all thats green, as well as the good stuff she keeps in her pants!)... Not to confuse the two... the only green stuff in her pants is our money. And she lets me spend it with reckless abandon... I love her.
ANYWAYS...

It was purchased to save some milage on my diesel pickup, so I have to keep it IM leagal (for now).

Driving it around is a harsh experience... bear in mind, of course, that the local roads around here are far from perfect. Lots of ruts, cracks, bumps and potholes. I THINK that the springs are stock on this thing, but they're very stiff (for a commuter, pretty nice for a sports car).So My point is I'd like to get some softer springs under it. And I have no need of going lower.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Only thing I've came up with is some coilover perches and softer/progresive spring rates. unless they make some taller, softer springs that fit the stock struts...

Well, any help would be welcome... thanks!!

daily driver? you want to make it 5spd? think you should either leave it stock auto, or just do it up right. i mean if your going to do all the work converting it, might as well do it justice and go coilovers, and all the other goodies. but if its just a dd then dont even worry about a ka or sr. good luck though, its cool your wifes so forgiving with money.

I't be nice to do a 5spd, I have access to a tranny and it'd obviously be more fun. I'd still have to buy a clutch kit and hydraulics... right now I just push on the right pedal and go. And my wife can drive it and not destroy it if need be (been there, done that)

As I mentioned before, I'd like to go w/ some sort of turbo application, but for now have to keep it IM legal.
So as the title states, does anyone have any spring suggestions?

Impossible. Nothing is softer than stock. Even if you got some kind of spring perch dealy I don't think you'd even be able to find a spring softer than stock.

well, maybe the springs on this thing are aftermarket, but theres deffinatly softer springs available than whats in there now. Maybe not direct fit but with all this coilover BS how hard could it be to get a different spring rate? I'm running 500# 2.5" springs on my RX7, it won't be hard to find 150/350# springs for the 240. And as far as finding softer springs, you must not have done much suspension tuning, you can find any spring rate you want if you look a bit.

Oem springrate is like 112lbs/in so no, you wont find softer than stock. Unless you get them custom made or retrofit them from a geo metro or something.

Get used to it.

LOL are you fucking serious? Like Kdashy said ~112# is stock. You might find some places that'll stock 100# springs in some monster length that you'd have to cut down, but lets get real thats virtually no difference to stock. So do you really want to get some special order springs made that are softer than stock? If so, just sell the car.

Yes I'm F'n serious.
First of all...
I'm talking about a car suspension.

Doesn't seem like a topic to come to blows over.
Would you start cursing at the guy next to you at the bar because he mentioned lighter rate spring rates to you?

Re-read my post.

If you read my post you'd see all I was askin' was if there was a lighter spring available. And that I wasn't sure if it was a stock spring.

Maybe go with a smaller wheel and a thicker tire... That should soften the ride a bit...

Is it possible the shocks are blown?

Anyways, take a look, see if your springs are black and wire thin. Other than that, if your car looks decent, you're probably on aftermarket springs (and probably still on stock shocks from the sound of it).

I've decided NOT to put 17's on it, I think thats all the effort I'll put into a smaller rim. I'll make sure the tires aren't over-inflated as well, that would probably help.

The struts are leaking, they still seem to dampen the bounces but need replacing.

If stock it 115#-ish, I'm pretty sure these are stiffer than that. I guess I could sit on a corner and measure how far it deflects the spring.... bit more complex than I usually get.
Also gives a new meaning to the Butt-o-meter.

Remember that you'll also have resistance from suspension bushings and mounts, as well as a motion ratio to take into account (wheel travel isn't exactly equal to spring travel).

Have you taken a look at the springs at all? Is it possible that aftermarket coilovers (threaded perch) are on the car?

I did look at the struts to see if they were blown... I'm pretty sure I would've noticed aftermarket springs, they're usually pretty thick. The definatly wasn't any coilovers. Unfortunatly I'm working away from home for a few months and won't be able to confirm anything untill I get home... I was just hoping someone could turn me on to some decent progresive springs so I could order them and have them there when I return.

You must be drivin a busted ass Diesel truck to be gettin less gas mileage than a 240. Dont the diesels get up around 25mpg? my singlecam 240 is about there I think. I never really payed attention cause I was kickin my trucks gas mileage in the ass, lol.

not trying to save $$, trying to save wear and tear on my $20k truck.
And stock, the truck got around 19mpg, a few mods and a 120hp tune later it usually gets about 12.

ah yes, but your quite a different story. You see, your from Texas. That sort of behavior is expected.

im willing to bet your shocks are blown, and/or you need to replace your sub-frame bushings
