View Full Version : SOHC Auto to SR 5sp?

Just wondering if there are any differences with the SOHC & DOHC wiring when you go Auto to 5sp. I'v seen several threads but they are all for DOHC's. Anyone know if there is a difference?

I used a SOHC KA harness with my 91 coupe 5spd/SR swap. Didn't notice any differences, and it works just fine.

I'm wondering about the netural safty switch, reverse & parking lights...
I'm about 1 day away from starting my sr... the sr harness is already wired... just waiting on a 5sp driveshaft from a friend before I can start the car.

The wiring for those is the same as the DOHC harness.

I followed the threads here on the swap when I did mine...The only thing I had to do regarding wiring was JUMPER one of the relay plugs by the battery....SO it will start....I never got around to wiring the lights though??

The only other major problem I had was I couldnt get the Starter to bolt up...I found the 2 bolts that go through the tranny are different...the Autos are 1/2 and inch shorter...

yes he is correct the starter bolts on the auto are shorter than the 5 speed - also as far as the tranny wiring goes - there should be no differences from DOHC/SOHC as the tranny on both are the same.

But got to my site; http://www.KA24DETDVD.org and download the 89-90SOHC FSM and the 91-94DOHC FSM and look for yourself.

I have found in my experiences to make sure yourself - rather than take someone elses word for it.

When I did my at-mt swap I went with the write-ups too - but was pretty much lost on alot of points so I had to wing most of it.

The write-ups miss on alot of things and dont even go into others - which is why I made the 5 speed swap DVD - to show video of it - and go through differences between at-mt s13-s14 etc.
