I have 17x8.5 +30 / 17x9.5 +38 alloys arriving soon for my kouki s14, lowered on eibach prokit with kyb agx. just daily driving for now, motor is stock, I'll roll the fender lips if I need to, thats no problem. so what would you put on these wheels for tires, have you run something similar before, if so, how'd you like it? I'm thinking a 225 front and 245 rear tire would be just right for good clearance and good grip.

ideas?
thanks.

225/45/17 Dunlop Direzza all the way around.

And some 15mm spacers for the front, and 25mm spacers for the back. I can make some custom spacers for you that are hubcentric with a lip.

It's ashame you didn't go with some +15 or so in back and like +5-10 up front

it all depends if you decide to get spacers on what tires you are gonna get

and if you wanna keep the speedometer working correctly

well thanks for the offer,I can make hubcentric spacers at work later on if needed but I figure once I get an LS1 in that car I will run 255 fronts and 275 rears for GRIP... but for the next year I see a 215/235 tire setup as being the way I go...

not offering any suggestions, just sharing my experience.

i have a similar wheel size and offset, ce-28's 17x8.5,+25f & 17x9.5,+35r. I use 245/17f, 255/17r tires. I have rolled fenders all around. no rubbing from the inside (r32gtr brakes & coilovers), nor outside. works good for me.

if you are drifting i would go with 215/45 neova/RE01Rs in the front and 215/45 Federal ss in the back. If you are dragging same for the from and some 265/45 in the back

Fuck you guys love your pussy ass tire sizes....

Why would anyone even consider less than a 235 front if they have the rim to do it on?! Well, unless going for the uber cool stretch, then its somewhat understandable....

been drifting on 215/45s in the front for a while now and they seem to work great. why do i need 235s up front when 215s work perfectly. oh yeah an because the off set on my rims wont allow me to go bigger because it will rub the coilover hehe. Basically for the rear tires i have drifted anywhere from 195/16 - 255/17 and i find the most comfortable for me to drift wit is somewhere between 215 - 235/45/17.

i have falken fk- 451/2 on my car and i daily drive it and its a nice tire. i like them better than the zeix and they handle very good in the rain and where only $89 a tire.

If you want grip don't go with smaller than 235s...

I would go with 245s and 255s personally...

I run 245s and 17x9s all around (on an S13) and love it...

interesting suggestions and opinions, I appreciate them all guys, thanks. I know I might need a spacer up front to run a 235, thats not a problem for me to make or buy and thats the benefit of offsets like these (30'ish) because I can always space them out and if I run fatty wide tires I can keep them tucked. heh heh, some of you guys are thinking 255 or 275 out back, hells yeah!

come on guys wtf... 225 on a 9.5?!?!? daily driving it? If I were you i'd run:

235/40
265/40
or
265/35

You have the offset to run nice size tires. The rims won't look flashy b/c of offset and fitment but you will have grip.

stock ka, for drift 225/45-17, for daily driving, 225/45-17. You wont spin decent compound 225's on stock ka very much. If you are grip then run 245's in the rear (245/40-17) This comes from personal experience I was stock ka for 2 1/2 years and very succesful with it.

i suppose i agree with the "for drift" set-up... But if going for real grip, step up to a 245(minimum) front and 265(minimum) rear. I was pretty happy with a 255/35/18 front 275/35 rear for grip...

While more grip would be nice its not necesary, I catch and pass evo's/sti's on HTM all the time on 235/40-17 front and 245/40-17 rear with sr and lots of corner speed. I def. dont rely on power and with ka would not have to pussy foot with 245's like I do with my sr. and my sr only makes about 200whp while its more than his stock ka its nothing insane power wise.

okay, man some of you guys are craaaaaaaaaazy! I didnt buy tires YET but I did mount the wheels to the car and they fit perfectly, well, in my eyes they do. I have a just few mm's of inner clearance up front to the kyb agx strut and the wheels are flush to the outside fender lip (all stock). the rear is the similar but with just a little more inner clearance and just a few mms from being flush to the outside. so, I could fit 235f/255r without rolling the lips if I keep the camber where it is just from lowering the car. if I rolled the lips I could fit a 255 front and 275 rear no problem. perfect, thats just what I hoped for.

gonna order up some 235/40 fronts and 245/40 rears since I cant find any 255/40 tires with o.d.'s close to any 235/40s (I do not want the jacked rear look at all). a 235/40 and 245/40 setup will be pretty balanced and almost same heights front to back, that'll be sweet. thanks for all of the posts, I'll post pics when I get them all mounted up and on the car and if I have the time I'll throw on the 18x10's from my FC just for shits n giggles.

I'd run 235 RT615's on all 4's.... If the car isn't going to see a track there isn't any reason to run huge tires.

Mathmatically they are NOT Flush.

As a rule of thumb, the rotor to the fender is approx 100mm to be flush. So you have to do some math to get the lip out that far.

There is NO WAY x8.5 +30 and x9.5 +38 is flush, it just isn't happening.

Uh, those size/offsets on an S14 are about perfect with the stock fenders.

/\/\/\/\ yeah I thought they were perfect, they looked perfect, guess I'll need pics to show what I mean by flush. I bet some of you guys ran crazy insane camber plate maximum negative camber too, I understand that will tuck a wheel almost another inch, but I dont have camber plates, my camber setting wont be extreme at all.

My Idea of flush. and very low camber.

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f399/brainfood1182/05-02-07_1228.jpg

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f399/brainfood1182/IMG_0999.jpg

This was super flush normally, this is a 225/45-17 and I normally ran 235's and they were business card close to the fenders.

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f399/brainfood1182/IMG_0997.jpg

But for stock body s14 17x8 +0 or 17x9 +14 is pretty flush up front and 17x9 +18 rear or 17x10 +25. For stock body and no crazy pull, low camber. I am well aware you can fit crazy sizes under stock fenders.

The funny part about those pictures you just sent is that those wheels are sticking out past the fender.. How is that flush?

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b267/koopatroopa187/Sillbeer%20S14/CRW_0812.jpg

17x9+30 with a 5mm spacer in the front to clear coilovers and a small roll in the back.. Doesn't look rediculous and it'll pass inspection.

Wheels yes, tires no. My idea of flush. The sizes I listed arent nearly as aggressive as what is on my car. I think your wheel and tire setup looks fine too. Difference is I have wider wheels and stretched tires so i have lower offsets than you because I can tuck tire and have the wheel sticking out some.

um the wheels are flush to me. when someone says flush that generally means its flush with the top of the wheel well. Oh yeah and is it just me or are his tires on backwards?

17x9.5 +15 all around no spacer
235/40 BFG KDW-2 front
235/45 w/e back

need front and rear fender roll/pull. rear needed pull, front just a little with -1.5* camber.

on the 9.5, like everyone else says, 235/45 minimum.

on the 8.5, 225/40-45

IMHO :\

EDIT: S13 chassis

Seems like you guys have come to argue about what is and isnt flush. ZILVIA flush is pretty much rim straight on with fender -20mm offset which will put the wheel outside of the fender. Normal rim flush is dead on with the fender. If you wanna rock some good tire size you can't have zilvia flush or regular flush.

If you want to tuck WIDE tires (275 on a 10 255 on a 9) you'll have to go aroudn +30 to +35 offset. if you don't want to tuck tires +20 to +25 will do well.

I think i mentioned before but check out the wheel fitment thread. There's some guy running 18x11 and 18x10 work meisters. I believe he has wide tire fitment as well so that'll give you an idea.

300hp owen
06-19-2007, 09:29 AM
lol funny thread now. when I mounted my wheels to the car the outermost lip edge looked like it was right in line with the fenders. when I looked at my car from the front, I could still see lip from front and rear poking a bit outside the wheel well, seemed pretty flush to me, but I guess under load/compression they will tuck in a lot more because of the suspension travel, probably half an inch inward?

Koopa Troopa, thats RIGHT ON with what I was hoping my car would come out after I get tires on these wheels, gotta give you a big thanks for the pic, thats perfect for a DD like mine. are those 235 or 245 on your wheels and did you run the same size all around?

so my +30 offset 8.5 wide fronts will be 1/4" inward compared to yours, sound good to me, because I drive HARD!

i kept rays wheels for now so there 5zigen FN01RC 17x10 +12 so whats the biggest tire i can fit on the rear??? i have the 8mm spacers to
I was looking at 305 unless i can go bigger

300hp owen
06-19-2007, 01:09 PM
it all depends on camber you WILL run and how much you WILL roll your fender lips and if you WILL pull them outward.

I think khmerguy or someone else just fit a 305 out back on an s14 with a 20x10(?) wheel from a friends car and it fit, cant remember the offset though but the post was recent.

also there are not many choices for 305 in 17" size unles you want a drag slick. there are tons of 285 that are too tall and some 315 that are junk and other 315 that are mad expensive and super wide and wont fit at all.

Stock fenders your going to have a hard time fitting anything that wide under. Not because the car wont take it but because your offsets are so low. You need a much higher offset to cram that big of a tire under the rear fenders. If you overfenders then that is a different story
