Can someone be so kind enough as to point in the right direction of a diy faq or walkthrough? I know there's 4 mounting bolts, 4 drive shaft bolts, and 12 half shaft bolts, I just need to make sure I'm doing it right

remove the half shaft bolts, then the driveshaft bolts, break loose the 4 mounting bolts to the subframe, break loose the 2 long bolts that go through the back of the diff into the subframe. Get a jack and put under the diff. Remove bolts that you just loosened up. lower carefully. Depending on your exhust you may want to remove if it gets in the way.
p.s. to remove driveshaft/axles just pull down or push up on them.

to reinstall it just reverse the whole procedure. as far as fluid, i usually put it in before i install the diff. but you can do it after its installed. itll make it easier if you had a fluid pump if you already have it in.

your not sure on how to remove the diff but your going to take on welding it?
if you are practice first. make sure you get all the oil off the spider gears before you weld it up.

Are you welding your diff yourself or giving it to a professional? if you are welding a open diff yourself I hope you have at least a little MIG welding experience. I recommend you do a 3 pass overs where the spider gears meet. So it will meet 8 times, so 24 welding lines are required. Get the welds to overlap like so:

I just did one and with the application I'm using it for (drifting duh) and the amount of force and torque thats going to involved just putting more layers on will only help it. Obviously just putting layers on without knowing how to weld isn't going to help you, so you see how the 2nd and 3rd passes are in the picture? You would want to angle the gun more so towards the actual spider gear just barely touching your first weld. Turn the heat up, go slow, and get plenty of penetration.
I haven't put my diff in yet, so I'll post pics tomorrow for you to help explain what I'm trying to talk about.

I do know how to weld, but I'm paying 30 plus my diff to a friend who already has a welded diff.
He's also the coordinator I believe for the local drift team, nodrft.com, so he knows his stuff.
I was just looking for removal and installation help

by the way, just my opinion, no one asked for it but, just throwing it out there, a welded diff is much more perdictable. "A 2-Way may engage and disengage mid-drift." -AND HOW...
