ok so I bought this used cusco 2 way type MZ lsd from s14brent...installed it and it makes a whining noise when I accelerate around 40-65 mph..... I barely push on the gas and it will whine the loudest. if i really gas it it wont be as loud but still pretty noticable. When just coasting I dont hear it at all....
Ive changed pumpkins and it made no difference
I always run 75w90 redline gear oil... everything is torqued and how it should be...
Anybody have this problem before?
Do any of you guys have whining probs with your 2 way? I also have subframe collars but people say they dont have whining probs with em....

I always thought 2way LSDs were just loud in general

thats around corners they usually clunk.....I dont care about the clunking... the whining DRIVES ME CRAZY....
Does anybody know if regular diff/shaft bearings will work with a cusco diff? Or do I need special cusco bearings?

iirc whine usually signals bad ring and pinion. it usually gets louder and louder as time goes on. the diff continues to work without issue but the noise usually makes the driver go crazy.
not that i have much experience fixing or rebuilding diffs.

not so much a bad ring and pinion as the lash is either out or not set correctly. Either way if you continue without doing anything it will create a bad ring and pinion. I.E. it will create a bad wear pattern and blow up, literally! Been there a long long time ago. Anytime you hear that noise, take it a rear end shop and have them inspect it for wear patterns and set the lash correctly, before its too late.
