heard a really weird whizzing sound as I was driving down from SF to LA.... (real real fast) got worried when I pressed the clutch and the whizzing continued, (especially when I had more than 200 miles left to go...)
anyway long story short I had a hunch that it was my center support bearing for the propeller shaft, but after I took a peek today, not so sure any more... so need a second opinion before I start taking everything apart.
PIC 1: I figure this is the tranny oil seal
Do I need to get a new dust cover or should I just toss this one?

PIC 2: Center support bearing... not sure if it is bad

PIC 3: bad pic, but rear diff - this seal bad too?
A bit difficult to see but there is some/not alot of oil behind the diff/shaft area.

So my story is this, I already ordered and received the center support bearing assembly. (paid like $140), (BTW my car is a 1993, Conv 240SX with 5SP swap)
1. Do I return the part and get a aluminum or steel one piece? (I found alot of info on both on this site, but still not sure what the verdict is.... my plans for the car is mostly as a grocery shopper/ occasional tanning machine/ drifting in the rain car)
2. I figure I need both oil seals replaced (tranny and RR diff) anyone disagree?
3. Is the RR diff oil seal removal possible from the outside or do I have to pull the entire thing out?
4. Big question - how long do you think this would take? and should I even attempt to do it by myself? (I did propeller shaft work on my Bronco - but then that had ALOT more clearance - actually didn't even have to jack it up :) ) And how should I pay for someone else to do it....
