ok, well ive been looking around a bit and i just found out the Bmagic 240sx S13 kit is a Vertex knockoff, and the price difference is quite a huge margin...
so basically, are there any quality or fitment issues with the Bmagic, because to the best of my knowledge and searching capabilites they look the same (unless you want to show me otherwise)?
Thanks

I've never used BMagic kits myself, but I know my knocked off Uras one need alot of sanding. So much sanding that I know have a sandbox to play in.

Save up, buy the genuine real thing... and only spend the money/time once.
EVERYONE I know, who went with a cheaper knockoff kit, had major fitment headaches.

My cheapass knockoff aero doesn't fit for shit.
But I hear neither does the real stuff.

Yes!!!!!!! get your self a dremel and a saw bit, then hack away to fit it and just use zipties. I had to use abolt for the rear bumper. i bought my "cheap shit that looks dope" at Fatboy garage for $120 a peice here in socal. It really is agamble on fitment and usually it's not just a "snap on deal". Besides Logan said it best "the kits are gonna get ripped up eventually, why spend the cash on $500 bumpers?" WERD. So if you are a man and do you're own body work then do it. If not then buy the expensive shit and have a shop put it on for you.
oh yeah SEARCH, and you suck

hmmmm, well ive seen a few guys with bmagic kits who said the fitment is good. so i was kind of looking for some of there feedback.
the Vertex version is relatively expensive ($1600+ for the whole kit) whereas the Bmagic is alot cheaper but if fitment is gonna be a big issue idk....

I have bmagic front silvia fenders.
fitment is nothing to brag about... "good" is a relative term. It's on there and does the job, but the fenders don't line up quite right w/ the doors or hood on either side (oem one I had before lined up perfect). Let's just say it doesn't line up any better than any other eBay/knock-off brand.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but since he is asking about, and seems to want to avoid, any fitment issues, I'm guessing he doesn't do his own bodywork, and therefore doesn't want to pay someone a shitload of money to make it fit right.
All bodykits of any brand/make are going to need some work to get them to fit... with knockoff ones it's just a lot worse. When I say a lot worse; I mean I have seen gaps, and pieces out etc. by several inches. :ugh:
EDIT: Forgot to mention the fact that fitment has a lot to do with what shape your CAR is in before you put the kit on. Sometimes the kit isn't out... the car is. In worse case scenarios, both are out. lol

hmm, like ive been doing alot of research and its really a mixed thing some people are saying it fit really nicely for what it is and otehr say it sucks... so idk
the only reason i was considering this is becasue my mom backedi nto my front bumper and smashed it up lol.
hmmm, also it seems that the authentic Vertex kit fits like a glove according to most people, Sorry if this has been gone over a couple of times i just want to make sure before i spend money.

picky, newbies, and taste of quality= oem kit nothing else
drifters, posers, and people who don't give a shit since it's just going to ripped off anyway = any fibgerglass kit.
don't ever expect to put a body kit on and it's going to last forever, the #1 phase I hear all day long "I drive very carefully so why would I crack the kit?"
anyone who had a body kit before can tell you there's no way to avoid it, it's the reason why I don't spend $1,500 for a real body kit from Japan.

all the stuff I've gotten off ebay has been fair enough.
it takes some blocking, but that takes like 4hrs at the most.

for the price of the Bmagic over the authentic Vertex.. i think i would just be willing to do the work... i dont do my own body work but i can try (and my father will probably lend a hand) so would it be somthing hard to do?

i got a vertex $450 knock off and it fits decent, it also depends on the people that knock them off, some are crap and some are decent
na3j nitsuj
05-31-2007, 03:22 PM
it just really depends...not every kit is the same...theres always something different about the kits...
thats wut i think...
I'm pretty sure they all come from the same place...
knockoffs that is
and they all suck
but they're all worth the $400+$50 in sand paper and block to flatten them out

1. installer error= had a friend who's a newbie bought a carbon fiber hood, he install it himself thinking it's only 4 bolts how hard can it be? then he call me and told it it didn't fit well. went by his house with a friend who works at a body shop since we were in the neighborhood. took my bodyshop friend 10min to adjust the hinges, spacer, and latch and it's like oem fitment again.
people who don't know how and trying to save money will always blame it on the product.
2. we had a vertex knock off, a friend who's not into a car watched as we put the bumper on our car. he said wow it doesn't fit well(he was expecting oem fitment). after we finished a couple of car guys came by and they saw it and said wow that's really good fitment for china knock off.
EVERYONE's ideal of great fitment is different, you can't take people's opinion.
just like wheels everyone's ideal of "flush" is different, a wheel that stick out 5mm is NOT flush, but yet some people said that's the "right" flush.

My kit didn't fit that well because it's china knockoff.
But I just went at it like a madman sanding everything down to fit as perfect as possible.
Then parts of it was a little warp so I just took a heat gun to it and bent it back to where it would fit.
Then drill holes and ziptie it all together. I use zipties because if I hit something I'm praying the bumper will come off instead of ripping off.
Yes I spent money on knockoff because I'm poor and it's going to get jacked up from drifting anyways.

when you guys mean bad fitment, what exactly do you mean?
eastcoastS14
05-31-2007, 05:00 PM
holes and mounting points dont line up or there are gaps once you mount it and often youll have to trim the bumper to get it to fit right....IMO really expensive kits are pointless but in MA our roads are so bad that if you daily a car with a body kit its only a matter of time before it gets destroyed....I say go decent quality knock off or OEM
Kaldar142
05-31-2007, 05:11 PM
what are some decent quality knock offs? it seemed like to me Bmagic kits werent that bad, but idk ill probably just stay oem... chuki bumper, zenki lip and canadian sideskrits

Self tap screws are going to be your friend. One thing i did notice on my b magic fenders are that they are really wavey. I made my fenders fit decently but it just takes time.

i have a knock off kit and fitment was actually pretty good. the only problem was the front bumper. idk if it was just that bumper or just a 240 problem, but the bumper was slightly off from the passenger side where it meets the headlight. imo..the rear bumper and sideskirts usually make good fitment (from the knock offs i've seen), and it was just the front bumper that had bad fitment. what you can do is just buy that kit, toss the bumper, and buy one that's legit. if you want to go cheap, then go for it. 240's are always going to need work, so might as well get use to it, and save money while you're at it.

I've only bought 1 kit before and it was a knockoff and it fit well after I broke out the dremel and fit it myself...... go for it. A few hours time is worth the 500-1000 savings to me

As long as it is made out of fiberglass then allways expect to modify it to fit on you're car none of those replica kits fit perfect the first time:(

Bmagics a bit better than most crap you'd find in Ebay. Id rather buy some thing that i know wont fit perfectly but all i need to do is sand/trim it to fit. You buy something from ebay, your liable to get a sideskirts thats short.
I still say Authentic (vertex, gpsports, etc) > Version Select/Origin > Bmagic/US FRP knockoff > Ebay/made in china/taiwan crap.

man tuan from aspec hooked me up on a vertex knock off and mine fits just fine!!!!!whatever you get will need some love to fit, and will only look as good as the time you put into it to make it fit right. If your gonna drift it, who cares what it fits like, you will brake it soon anyway. but if you're ballin well then.......http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x168/bodiee/_DSC9083.jpg

like that one guy said, it depends on the company that knocks it off. i haven't personally had any experience with b-magic but i know for sure that the version select kits fit pretty decent minus the sideskirts. just a little sanding and cutting should do the trick but all in all, "SAY NO TO KNOCKOFFS."

well i got the vertex knock off from extreme dimensions (v-style) and it doesnt fit worth shit.....
good thing ive worked in a body shop for over a year.... cause now i got it installed and fits OK. nothing special but itll look good from 10feet away. but hey, you drift your car, you run off and you rip it off.... its bound to happen so the way i see it is id rather have 3 kits that fit just ok then paying for 1 kit thats oem type fitment because when you rip off that great kit you still gotta fork some cash over to get another kit.

fiberglass is easy to fix to. and if u got paint left over u can respray. u can make it look nice again. it just takes a little extra time.
i never understand why people run a fuckin busted ass bumper stiched with zipties when it takes like an hour to fix the thing right. and another hour to paint. what the fuck, come on

You want a show car, get the real deal.
I bought an origin lab and it didin't have oem fitment either, the rear bumper had to be cut and remolded in one corner to just barely fit. Best fitment is OEM, anything else is hit or miss.

OEM is always best, but if your willing to spend some extra coin, vertex is your best bet. from personal experience, its prob. the best fitting kit on the market right now since it fits like oem. honest truth...

The knockoff stuff is hit and miss, sure, but the guy that suggested aerokits.net wasnt too far off. I have used them a bunch a times cause they are right up the street. I had URAS knock off on my R32 GTST from them, BN knockoff on my s13, and now the S14 is rockin URAS4 knockoff jammies. Outta the three kits, the skyline bolted up NO WORK AT ALL, the s13 took MAYBE 30 min sanding, and the S14 took about 1.5 hrs from start to drive away time... Maybe Im not very fitment picky or sumthin'? I have3 never had anyone say "wow, that fits kinda crappy" and I get some comments asking if it's real...
I have seen some of the "grey" kits coming outta VIS and Racon fit pretty bad, but for some reason, the white ones I get all seem pretty close. Still, some of the white ones...(seems to depend on age/number of times the mold has been reused) are a lil outta whack, but nothin' a heat gun cant fix.
With that said, I also helped a buddy put B-magic sides and back on his s13 hatch, and we never even busted out the dremel...jus popped it up to check, popped it off to drill holes, and bam, back on with bolts and a zip tie or two...no gaps. B-magic fenders (which I had on the other s13 coupe) were HORRIBLE fitment. After a rough install and some trimming followed by a waiting period with it half way on the car, it settled enough to be fitted up pretty well though. Funny thing was, that after ALL the mounting holes they put in em didnt line up at first, when it finally lined up, i was able to put all the bolts through the holes they provided... Maybe I shoulda manned up and just twisted the thing in a knot to start with and it woulda fit...
My S14 is on the aerokits.net site as the demonstration vehicle for the uras kit and the hood. (links below). The hood is a HORRIBLE knock off, but I simply drove up there hoodless, popped it on, put in the bolts and drove away. It only needed about 10minutes of fitment when I got home to be pretty nice...atleast fitment wise....
