So after everything I have done, with the bushings, and the tesion rod and all. I went to the alignment shop to get it aligned. he guy told me it is "un alignable" Due to a bent unibody. On a good note I managed to fix the camber with my bushings. THey didn't even require adjusting at the alignmnt shop. Both are at -.82º.
The front right strut tower has 3.5º of caster. The right wheelbase is an inch shorter than te left. Also the right side got pushed back, so the frame is no longer a square. It is a diamond by 1º. This was figured out at an alignment shop, not a frame fixing shop. I am gonna go get a quote tomorrow.
Mainly I want to know If it is even possible to straigten out a unibody car, and Whether it will be weaker than It was before or not. The car tracks as well as It ever did, and has no odd vibrations or anything. (up to 100 mph so far)
What caused this originally was my understeer incident. I hit a curb sliding with the rim parallel to the curb, car at about a 30º angle to the curb. I was going maybe 15-20. After that, I had the news of he bent frame broken to me, and I was about twice as frustrated and angry as I had ever been in my life. So I was taking it out on my rear tires.
I was making a right on a 4 lane street (in the city) With curbs and a few driveways. I did a clutch kick in second gear and lit both tires up good. I powerslid left, right, left, and than my front end started to plow a little cause I got pretty sideways, and I Went over the curb on the right of the street. My front left rim got bent pretty good on the left of the driveway, on a curb. The rears stayed on the street, and the front right went up on the driveway. Than I slid sideways quite gently to a stop, mostly in the dead grass, I figured I was high centered. I said "Fuck!". Than I thought about what I should do for about 3 seconds, threw it into reverse, and got rubber. I dont even remember dropping off the curb. I may have slid to the next diveway when I lost it. Anyway I went to a freinds house and got my spare on, and learned a lesson. No matter how bad you think you are off, it can get a lot worse. Don't be dumb.
Anyway. THe rim is totaled, cannot be repaired says a rim shop. (I'll take pics ) And I magaged to find a replacement for 200 bucks. Thats only twenty over wholesale. haha. I was gonna sell the car, but I love 'er too much. I just washed her up today and waxed her.
What I figure I'll do while I am waiting for my rim, is put my stock wheels on the back, good ones in the front, and find a parking lot to get to know my car better in. If you catch my drift... no pun intended...

i think my frame may be bent... i bumped off a curb a few weeks ago going about 30mph... it was a glancing blow that only hit tire i think. but since then it feels like my car is kinda crab walking down the road. any easy ways to check?

Most frame/alignment shops will check it out for free. If nothing else I bet you need an alignment.

alright, i'm not gonna say what happened wasn't shitty or anything, but i think you overreacted way too much.

if this is some of the worst news of your life, then count yourself one lucky bastard.

allowing yourself to get so upset over such a superficial (as far as life goes) incident, and then driving while being so upset is just stupid. you're asking for trouble.

shitty news about your car, and i hope you can get it fixed and shite, but you're an ass.

stupid is as simple does.

True, true and true.

But I said SOME of the worst news of my life. I am not saying I love my car more than my grandmother or anything.

The frame shop will no give me a quote unless I pay them for two hours of labor to put it on a rack and measure all the damage. Anybody have any experience with frame straigtening? Ball park estimate? I might just leave it.

bardock, Give it a rest, I think most of us figured out Joey was exaggerating. No need to be a prick on your second post.

Joey, frame straightening is totally feasible. However it is not cheap as it is a very labor intense process. I would figure $500 at the very least.

i'm in a similar situation as you are...

When my car was hit the right-side of frame moved about 1.75 inches, resulting in the right wheel moving in towards the back.

So, what i'm doing is have a local frame specialist pull it out according to spec, then have the area where frame was bent (localed before strut housing) cut out and solder on a new whole piece (clipped from local yard). This should make it almost good as new.

i'll have pics of this up by the end of this month...if anyone's interested,,,

This will run you a little over 500 like uuninja said...most places charge you 250 just to get the car on a frame machine.

srjoey..did you buy the car used...cause i doubt curb humping at 20mph will cause you to bend your frame.... maybe (if you bought the car used) the guy who used to own it got into an accident and screwed you over.

I feel the same way minime686 feels if you bought the car used then the person who owed it before you must have had an accident cus i have hiyt a curb at about 30-35+ mph and all i did was take out my lower control arms nad seriosly fucked up my rims/steeles and one hump cap cover was missing the inner ring.

Thanks for backing me up guys...

I e-mailed the old seller just the other day accually. I told him that I got a lil curb hump. He e-mailed me from thailand to ask how everything was.
The reason I got the car was cause it was a good deal. It was a good deal cause he guy was moving to thailand, and already had the plane tickets. I paid $1500 for it, w/stereo/exhaust/shocks/springs/rims. It needed new tires, and the camber had to be fixed in the rear.
I will ask him If he knows anything about the frame. He is a real honest guy, butit wasn't his daily river, and he wasn't a "car guy" like all of us are. (or gal) So i bet he had no idea.
