Finally I figured out what that god forsaken squeek is! 95% of the time I have my sound up so I don't care but when my radio is of its squeeksqueeksqueek whenever I roll over a pebble.

Anyways if I push up on the headliner it stops, did anyone find a way to fix this? I did a search and found a few people with a similar problem but no real answers.

My headliner is in 100% perfect condition and Id hate to ruin it, cause they rarely go back on the same

Where do you push on it to make it stop? Could be numerous things.

Anywhere on the back section of it.. Is it possible to take the headliner off/out without ruining it? it must be a clip or something.

Yes, I did it when I installed my custom boost controller bezel. You have to remove the A-pillar moldings and I believe the moldings that meet up with that in the rear. Also have to remove the dome light and visors. There are no clips, just the dome light screws, visor screws, and where it's held up by the molding.

Then it just slides out.

It gets dirty easily when it's out of the car so be careful.

EDIT: Just realized you drive an S14, not sure about them although I'd think it'd be very similar.

I don't see why you'd think removing it will ruin it.

Drop the Apillars, B/C pillars, and any roof trim (visors, mirror, domelight) and it comes right out. Not even a ten minute job. Once out you'll probably find the rear clips are rattling, take a little duct tape and cover the holes in the steel roof where they snap in, once reinstalled the clip will perforate the tape and rub against it, not on the metal.

I'm just apprehensive because my 240 interior is in such good shape and I don't want to ruin it, I have a bad habit of doing things to fast. I'll take it slow this time, thanks for the advice.

just pull it down and throw a bunch of deadener up there. and make sure your dome light and map lights are tightly attached. i'm going to pull mine down and stuff a few old tshirts in there.

Update: I finally got around to fixing this squeek. I bought some adhesive backed felt to fix all the noise problems I could and first on the list was this headliner. I took about 30 mins at a slow pace and without removing the rear quarterpanel sections. I put felt around the holes where the metal clips go In and I put duct tape around the actual clips.

Reinstalling took about 5 mins and it looks beautiful, some adjusting is needed as a few areas aren't 100% flush but its not noticable unless your looking for it.

The conclusion? The most annoying sound in the world is finally GONE. going over small bumps or uneven roads would make it squeek like 2-3 times per second and audible over my music. Also another area that is vibrating would be my HVAC/Radio bezel which I will address later tonight or tommorow.

Thanks for the help guys
