View Full Version : is the sr starter the same as a ka starter? (i searched)

starter just went on my notchtop s14 sr motor, i just wanted to know if the ka motor uses the same starter or if im going to have to find an sr one? or if any other production car in the us had the same starter that would help.

Retail is just under $630. Used you might find one for $150-200. Way easier to rebuild it for $65 at any local rebuilder.

or get a sentra ser starter if im not mistaken a lot of stuff from the ser will work......

Had my starter rebuilt last year and the tech said that some of the internal pieces of the SE-R starter did fit into my redtop sr starter and he matched up the remaining parts with another nissan starter, can't remember which other nissan tho'.

You're mistaken, don't post if you're only going to confuse people. The SE-R starter has a longer snout and retails for $248, it also has a completely different OE number than the RWD unit. I doubt parts dealers would mark it up $400 just because it's 'JDM'.
