i know on my without removing the cover around the steering wheel hub i have to bend it about an inch in the middle... its gonna take some force.. our take the screws out the hub plastic cover and then it will be easy

yeah, I've installed the indiglo needles on my car...and that damn tilt lever sucks @$$!!! after taking out my dash 2-3 times...I finally cracked the middle of the trim! oh well...I don't care, it's not a show car anyways
Unfortunately, I have to do it one more time I need to readjust my gas guage...it's about 1/4 too low. scares my friends when I'm driving about 1/4 below the E sign. LOL
*EDIT* oops..realized my post sounded kinda whorish...I meant to say that I feel your pain..as I've gone through it many times.

I don't have the link with me but I couldn't remove my gauge cluster a few days back so I searched the net and this is what found...
- Remove the lower dash cover (the one under the steering wheel)
- Remove the steering wheel covers (top and bottom) which should have 6 screws.
- Then remove the top 2 screws of the steering column and loosen (just loosen) the bottom two.
- Remove the trim
- Remove the gauge cluster
The trick here is to loosen the steering column so you can take out both the trim and cluster without bending it (cracking it). Once you lower the steering column you can take out both and put them in very easily.

You just have to bend the hell out of it man. I know that it will feel like it's gonna break. But trust me, it won't. http://members.tripod.com/eastcoastillusions/0f3037c0.jpg
