help guys it seems that my car wont fire on cylinder number one. Its an s13 blacktop and it was running fine for a while. i know my other cylenders have a good spark and i tried changing out the coilpack harness and still no difference i also tryied changing the coil pack no change. i changed out my ignitor. where should i look next. This is the secodn time it does this the first time it went away but now it wont. i appreciate your guys' time

i had a similar problem, mine had spark on 2/3/4, but #1 had a weak spark, i changed everything u did, my problem was the ecu was shorted internal, and it was shorting out the ignitor, i went through 3 of them before i figured out the root cause

yeah george, I would venture to say that either the ECU is fried on one particular driver, the continuity of the signal from the ECU is bad via hacked wiring, or the harness is crap alltogether.

Try to get a friends car around (i know you know people) swap your ecu on to their to cross-check functioning (easiest way for you imo) then if your ECU is fine, i would suggest getting a whole new harness. Life is a lot easier, anyways same thing I told you when you dropped by, im guessing the coilpack I gave you didnt make a difference.

cheers

Dude... call me george!

Test the continuity from the plug 12v to the battery.

Test the continuity from the input side connector of the ign chip to the ecu.

Test the continuity from the output side of the connector of the ign chip to the coil pack plug.

Try to isolate the resistance (if any).

Then, pull the cover off the ecu and look for deterioration from a leaking capacitor. I havent personally seen any, but i have noticed people on the forums posting pics of sr ecus with leaking capacitors and fucking lead/acid eating at the ign drivers.

I fried a couple of ecus. Just did what he described and traced it down though the system. If its not the ecu youll find it along the way.

same here...ecu is good...I checked cyl compression n is also good. the only thing I haven't test on is my ignitor chip...and I think that's the problem...just guessing...I try it tomorow...
