So, I am planning on doing the S15 conv to my 240 hatch. Because of significant side damage hitting a curb (hardly significant, but I guess significant enough), it was too expensive for insurance to cover and I had the car TL'd and I bought it back. Now, I had the car in the shop the last week, and they told me that they have to fix the rocker panels and there is minor bends on the under carriage as well. To cut down on labour, I took the car back and removed the front bumper and fenders myself.
Now, this stuff is pretty much garbage and to save time, I thought perhaps just have the new fenders and bumper put on now instead of putting old stuff back on. Now here's the conundrum... For as long as I've known, with the conversion, the bumper support is removed, but if I want it safetied, I need it.
So, my question is, what is the problem with the stock support? I have come to the conclusion it is fitment issues, but have no way of testing it out as I haven't received the bumper yet. Now, is there anyway around this and making it work by modification, or am I just better off putting the old stuff back on and just taking the support off after the safety? And because of lack of time and experience, I will likely just have the body shop do the work and pay the price for the new stuff.
Someone please help as I have been having trouble trying to find the info I need. The 'search' was no help.
