heat up the glue on the headlights so you can open them, then paint the inside housing black.

No they weren't....they just had a larger projector and separate housing between the projector and reflector.

RUTH'LESSDET - I did black housing on my headlights by tossing them in the oven to heat up the glue and separate the housing and lenses. Then I painted certain parts black with engine enamel paint (it gets hot in there).

I would preheat oven up to 400 degrees..then let the lights sit in for say five minutes. Afterwards I would take a butter knife and run it along the seams between the housing and lens. I don't have pictures of when I did it first time around, but I have pics from when I did my first HID retrofit...these are old pics as it was back when my car was green and rocking the USDM front bumper.

I have switched back to chrome housing since they look much cleaner than the black housing...especially on a white car.

so Im guessing the process is the same to achieve the look that redsquare has only painting the glass instead? also once apart what do you use to put the lights back togetherr?

Not really. Red Square has black glass to match his body. If you paint the housings correctly, you leave the reflector part silver so its still functional

yeah thats kinda what i was getting at....his is just painted glass right? or can you buy black glass somewhere? could you use the spray they sell to smoke your tail lights or would the headlights get too hot?

I did this when I owned an IS300, took apart the housing, sanded the housing down, primer, and then spray a gloss black. Saved me an arm and a leg from having to buy the JDM housings.

I just re-used the silicone that was already on the housings. Just heat up the sealer on the housing with a hairdryer until it gets really sticky, then put the housing back together. I have never done it with the kouki lights before, but I would think you might need to add a little more sealer. I believe it is silicone, but I could be wrong.

I just did this shiet on my zenki here in oki. 400 to me is a lil hot, I followed Simple S14s write up on doing my kouki 3 yrs ago. Shiet should still be floating around if you have more questions about it. Also, if you decide to paint the glass from the inside, take your time taping the front side. If you do a shitty job, the paint will run and smear all over the front of the glass. If you're really ballsy...I tried to paint the inside of my zenki and didnt turn out so hot. So im probably gonna get final konnexion clears...
