z32 caliper strip down

I bought a set of calipers from a Z32, the previous owner had painted them silver with black lettering. I would like to sandblast all the paint off so i can repaint them (the guys paint job wasnt very smooth), how do i go about getting the pistons out so I can blast them with out tapeing everything up. first buy like 3 c clamps.
Then put the air to the hole where the brake line would go.
they will pop out one at a time probably. use the c clamps to hold the ones that have popped out in place so you can get them all out.
Be careful they will come out with a significant force and spray fluid everywhere. I would recomend wearing safetly glasses.

And some heavy duty gloves because they will mash your fingers if they're in the wrong place at the wrong time. But, guess what, you should probably still tape off the place the pistons came out of. Maybe a little easier than with the pistons in, but I'm sure you don't want paint in there.

A 2x4 piece of wood helps out also when taking out the pistons with air.

yeah they come out very fast with air. watch your fingers. put a rag or something in there to catch the piston when it comes out so it doesnt get damaged. just apply the air to the brake line fitting hole. or take the bleeder out and apply it there. they can be a pain in the ass. goodluck. you should get them powder coated. its like 50$ and lasts way longer than claiper paint. plus it looks a hell of a lot better.

wow what PSI air are you guys using?

I rebuilt a set of brembos for a friend (he was getting them powder coated)

we used like 1 or 2 PSI with a few wedges of wood so they wouldnt slap against each other.. it worked great... they slid out nice and easy.

also.. if ur just painting them, id suggest using a chemical stripper and just sanding them down by hand.. (unless they are in need of a rebuild)
