for those who have them....did they make a decent difference in sound level? they don't make your exhuast look ugly do they?..also did you feel any loss in power?
thanks

Are you sure you need them? Your car sounds pretty good already. I can't hear you going through the neighborhood, so it can't be that loud

The system with the silencers isn't really that much quieter, that is why I am selling mine. However, I did feel some low end torque comeback once the silencers were installed. Its not that is is loud on the outside, it seems to be a lot louder inside the car.

If cops in your area are very touchy then you might want to consider it. But otherwise you don't really need it. If you go to the track, take them off

Yeah, its not WAY loud, but it couldn't hur to be a little more quiet. I might be trying out the silencers from the n1 dual form my friends rx-7 to see what it sounds like...

that's a GREAT idea. you're lucky. but me personally, i'd say just leave it open. looks better and it's not THAT loud. anyway, who cares? it's a GOOD loud, not annoying loud like hondas.

So how did it end up sounding like? My wife wants to start taking the baby in my car and as it is it's too loud. I'm trying to figure out if getting the silencers would actually make a difference or not. If this is the case, I'll have to drive 6 hours to get my stock one from storage!

I have the N1 dual and it was just perfect when I had just the exhaust. When I got my Hotshot headers the sound was 5x louder! The SOUND doesn't bother me, but the VIBRATION does. I also got alot of complaints from all my passengers from the noise.
It's hard to talk to someone inside the car when you're accelerating. The idle sound is smooth though. It's just the pedal to the metal sound that's really loud!
I have to admit when I race though it's very intimidating to the would be victims. :)
I'm actually planning on getting the silencers just cause my wife will be driving the car and she hates the sound.
I say get them, the looks aren't bad, the only thing I would do is spray paint the mounting bolts flat black to blend them with the silencers.

my exact same story!! i bougth silencers becuse after i got my hotshot header the sound got ridiculously loud and almost ricey. after the silencers it returned the sound back to pre-header volume and maybe actually a little quieter. i'd say it was a good investment for me but i only paid $50 used

i have the same issue with the dual and hotshot - loud as hell!!!
i have the twin silencers as well - i've found that if you wrap the pipe part of the silencer with steel wool, and wire it in place, then bolt the silencer in, it will kill most of the vibration, and silences a bit better.
also - putting a plate in one side will kill most of the sound, but she will run funny
i am going to be having a friend machine a set of supertrapp style silencers set for me - i just got a ticket :(

I used to live in San Diego, but now live in NorCal. I am NA so will it deaden the sound in the cabin? I assume so. Anyone know where I can get a great price on it?

my silencers look pretty different from what i'm used to seeing on A'pexi's website and at stores (picture below)... anyone know why? i have the boxes with part #s and instructions with illustrations and everything so i have no doubt they're A'pexi. JDM possibly, i've heard those have more insulation and mine are pretty damn quiet.

search on different boards classifieds and post in the WTB section, i'm sure you can get some used ones for a good deal. for me it made the tone a lot lower pitched and if you don't have a header i'm sure it should get close to stock sound, but i don't know for sure

I like yours, want to sell it? Where did you get those anyways? I had the same exact style silencer as what you have when I had my single N1 for my Civic. I never knew they made that style for the Duals! If I can get the same exact ones you have, I'll get them!

oh man, i just got apair of apex'i silencers for my dual.. and I LOVE IT. I dunno why it, seems like the car shifts so much smoother, (since i have auto) IMO it sounds better because of more pressure, i noticed a slight gain in the low end, and the best thing about it is that my exhaust no longer drones on the hwy! I had loved the exhaust until I got 2 tickets in 2 weeks probably because I attracted so much attention, now I love my exhaust/car once again!:D

I bought my car w/ OBX 2.5" catback ricer editon
Actually it doesn't sound bad on my KA when it ran but the ricer that owned it mounted it diagonal
I'm looking at (Go)5Zigen testpipeback when swap is completed...
