Does anyone know how to check for codes on the E5 ecu? This is for my s13 blacktop sr20det motor.

I finished my swap and now the car won't idle properly. So far I've checked my TPS - good, IACV - took it out and cleaned, and I dont know if i can check timing cuz I think I have a bad MAF. Everytime the maf is plugged in, the car will stumble after startup and die. If i unplug the maf, the car will idle. What things can i do to see if the maf is good or not? Can i still check timing with the maf unplugged?

You can check to see what the MAF voltage on the signal wire is at idle and compare with the value in the FSM, but thats about all you'll really be able to do. I suggest if you suspect timing to set the timing visually by lifting the valve cover, the the engine at 15*BTDC (second mark from right) and rotate the CAS until the second dot on the CAS gear is lined up with the reference mark on the cas body. This should put you almost spot on at 15*BTDC and the engine does not need to be running to set it. It is outlined in the FSM if you want more details. However, it does sound like a MAF issue.

are you running the stock sidemount? if so check the stock blow off valve hose that goes back to the intake. it really sounds alot like a bad air leak after the maf

Fixed the problem! It turned out to be a bad MAF! Thanks for the info guys! The car runs perfect now.
