Ok here goes....
Reaction time: .761 (shut up lol =\)
60: 2.414
330: 6.985
1/8: 10.693
1000: 13.907
1/4: 16.639
MPH: 82.53
Ok bit of a background. Its a 1993 S13 with the KA24DE, 5-speed. Just rolled over 190,000. Timing has never been redone, nor has it been rebuilt. No clue what the compression is. Clutch slips, and something is wrong with third, real hard to put in gear, sometimes pops out on its own =\. Open diff, passenger rear spinning off the line lol. Passenger front frame rail is split where the tow hook is(dunno if that makes a difference). Bushings are making noise, real nasty shit =\ All ripped apart and stuff lol (gonna order new ones once I get back from vacation)
Upgrades: AEM Short Ram, custom 2.5 catback. 195's in the front, 205's in the rear. Alloy teardrops. Eibach Pro Kit springs.
Driver: My first time ever on a track, first run of the evening.
I have a vid of my second run doing 16.8 if you guys wanna see that too =\ lol dunno why.
Anyway critisize away lol...I can handle it.

this car does not belong an a drag strip......

That car DOES belong at the drag strip... I'm sure he had fun and hell, its better than the street.
The time sounds about right but i wouldn't worry about final times right now. Work on the reaction time...Have fun...break shit...fix shit...
(hint: a welded diff or even vlsd will help your times.)

Dont bother drag racing if you have a stock and problematic NA KA inless you throw on a 100+ shot of nitrous and fix all that other shit, because other than that SR20 or KA-T will be the choice for making real power to get lower times.

I love that youre tracking a car that has all that stuff wrong with it...youll probably wind up leaving your motor at the starting line one of these days lol....if its just a car to beat on then beat away:keke: drive it til it blows but i hope you have money for a swap or a rebuild and enough left over for the tow home from the track

^I second that, better have enough to tow it home, and it better not be your DD...
Anyways, if it isn't your DD, and you have an SR or something else waiting to be put in, by all means continue beating the crap out of the KA, cause it'll probably blow soon...

Nah I don't beat on it really. I only drive it mainly on the weekends to my weekend job, and during the week I drive it to the store if I need to etc.
The frame is getting fixed real soon, my neighbor works at a body shop so I am not even paying for that lol. When I get back from my trip I am ordering all brand new bushings. Then some friends in tampa are going to help me do the timing chain job once I get the parts. I will probably get a new clutch before the timing though due to the cost factor and ease of replacing.
As far as rebuilding, everything sounds real damn good. I don't burn any oil and the oil is very clean at the 3000 mile mark.
I have all the maintinence records since the car was purchased from the first original owner. everything is oil changes, and one thing is a window regulator, and another is the water pump replaced. That's it. It has a minor power steering leak but otherwise no leaks from anywhere else
. This car performs better than my last 1993 I owned.
I beat on her tonight cause I haven't had fun in a while and cause my supervisor at my weekend job was talking smack saying his 1989 coupe could beat me lol... he ran a 17.5...better launch than me though.
oh and there is an Infiniti J30 with the diff still attached in the junkyard I had my eye on for a while >:E
Thanks for the responses guys.

Here is what you need to lower you're times in the 1/4mile or 1/8 mi drags with that engine
LSD or VLSD or welded or some shit that gives both wheels grip.
370CC injectors.
Upgraded fuel pump.
Apexi AFC- those electrical shits that control air and fuel mixtures.
100 shot of Nitrous dry system.
Last year at the import races in palmdale there was a stock NA ka hatch with only nitrous that was touching mid 13's but he was running this kind of set up.

I wouldn't put nitrous on a tired, stock motor. Drive the car, or decide to mod it (KA-T after a rebuild or SR), not both.
SnakeKack
05-23-2007, 11:24 PM
Yeah KA-t is what I want. I like SR alot and I was dead set on those but like I dunno I am in love with the KA lol =\ So i'm gonna get a hold of a spare motor and build that puppy up and plop it in once this one takes a shit. Or just buy all the rebuild parts and rebuild my motor since I don't need to drive it often really.
I would love to death for a VQ35 but ya know $$$.... same as LS1 lol. I get into too much trouble with V8s...lol I got that power I will use it.

82mph should not be happening...A stock KA should atleast put out 90. You are dying

Lol I know, I know. I'm writing down what I have done now on the back of the time slip and after I get more stuff done I wanna run her and see how much a diff they made.

what track were you at??
p.s. did you fall asleep at the tree?

Its hilarious seeing people have high hopes then reality sets in.
Sorry, I suppose I shouldnt laugh at your expense. Its like SR owners that think they get 300rwhp out of a stock SR, yet when they actually dyno get much much less.
Save money, and expect to spend 4 times more then you think you have to :)

^^ aww boooo I disagree with that...I think its great seeing people with hight hopes, I say just write down your goals research what you need to do to get there and work your ass off to make it happen...
SR with minimal upgrades can get you 300hp, same deal with a KA-T

question, what is 'reaction time' really measuring?

question, what is 'reaction time' really measuring?
it meassures how fast you react to the tree. most of the time if you take off on the last yellow light ull get a good reaction time.

Well first off, don't worry about reaction time. It does absolutely nothing to your e.t. Focus on your launch and get your 60 ft time down and thats where you will see the biggest gain.
And to say it again, if you are going for just a time, not bracket racing or anything, your reaction time does not matter. You could sit at the line for 10 seconds and still run a 16.

This whole thread is hilarious. From the OP's comments it sounds more like he was just fooling around and bored, and figured it'd be cool to get an idea what the car could do. I don't see any reason for anyone to assume he was attempting to break records and was looking for real life feedback, especially knowing the car's history and condition. I used to go to the drag strip solely to hang out with people and I'd make runs just for the hell of it, with no expectation of beating the best times or showing off. It's just something to pass the time while you're there. I don't think anyone with a car that obviously can't turn a good time expects it to, nor are they trying to all that hard.
So to the OP, those times are in average for a worn out car with a lesser skilled driver.

I say screw it. Do the 100 shot of NOS and have one great run to brag about and then go home and cry about blowing up your engine.
Have fun.

Are you planning on building this car hp wise? or is it just somthing you went out and did just for shits a giggles? It's one thing to run your car at the track to see what you're starting out time is, but its another thing to race an unsafe car. Don't blow your motor man, fix everything then go back and see what you run and give us a update. good luck!!:rawk:

Thanks for the responses guys.
Yeah I just wanted to see what I could do with my car. And I never raced a 1/4 before so it was my first try. It was me and a bunch of the guys from the shop we all just hang out run our cars, watch cars etc. I'm the new guy in the shop and it was my first time going out with them.
Lol it wasn't till after my last run for the night that my friends told me to launch on the light before green. I was launching at green lol. So AFTER I was done for the night I was getting anxious to go out and try the third yellow light, but I didnt want to beat on her too much, she doesn't see much action so I didn't want anything to break even though I doubt it. She is pretty solid.
I'm gonna repair whatever I need to fix on my car and go back like maybe in a month or something. I'll be going June 3rd though just to hang out with some 240 buds from Tampa. I think a drift even is going on.
And btw wootwoot it's at Moroso.
I'll definitley post up what I get next time. Thanks guys.

Unless your Heads UP racing.
And care about winning.
your 60 foot is what is blatently sux
Just get some drag radials, air them down to 14 psi, stomp on the gas when the pre-lights come on and rev up to abotu 6 k, dump clutch or slip fast and go.
You have a low output KA setup, you should launch like god, you just dont have enough HP to break 14s-ever probaly

Nobody else thinks that mph is dramatically low?.........
