Gas meter off

I'm off a quart. I fill it up but it only goes up to the three quater mark. I scraped my muffler while backing up, that's what started it but I don't see why that would effect my gas meter... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'>

On my S14 &nbsp;1995, I had a problem with my fuel gauge, it's not exactly like yours but it might be related.

My fuel gauge unit in the tank was floating in the bottom of the tank....

In your case, maybe you simply bent the fuel tank ? &nbsp;(did you look for &nbsp;any bent)

Or maybe your fuel gauge unit is not seated properly in the tank ?

The gas guage blows anyways.
I never even use it. I set my odometer at every fill up and refill at 300 miles.

I do the same thing but the low fuel indicator lights up after 260 miles. &nbsp;Do you think it will stall if I take it to 300?

I never stall. may begin to fill up at 250miles though, because I hear using the last couple gallons is bad, because of the infamous "sludge" &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
I get 24mpg with highway driving with the a/c on all the time.

You can get mpg by filling up the tank until it automatically shuts off. About 200 miles later, refill it to the top, note how much gas you add. That is how much gas you burned. So take your miles traveled and divide by the gas amount you added.
But yeah, the guage sucks. Just nice for a ~3 gallon guess.
