I have a sr with a z32 maf with the end cut off for a 3" filter, maf and then a 3"-2.5" silicone coupler to stock intake tube.

If I put anything including an airfilter (with the metal screen in the 3" coupler) before the maf it won't hold 2,500rpm and generally runs like crap. with just the maf and nothing in front of it the car runs great, stumbles a little in certain spots probably due to turbulance in the engine compartment. even with a 12" straight pipe it runs like crap!

anyone have any ideas? bad maf or just possessed?

Use a volt meter to check each pin on the output of the maf when you have the pipe in place/filter etc. THis will tell you if one of the connections is being strained or tugged on or intermittent (sp?).

Just turn the key in on and test away.

Also there was some recent info on people having issues with turbulant air causing maf issues like this. The posts on on FA. but im too tierd to source them up, if your bored go search there.

I'm on maui, so sourcing a maf is kinda hard.

Wiring is fine. maf was shipped by seller in a box twice its size with NO packing material at all, just air. maf was flopping around in the box.

that might just be your problem man...i havent been in the states for about 4 years now so i dont really know how the whole part/auto stores thing works but can you just go to a autozone or whatever and have them order a z32 maf from the factory....this will insure you that it will be in working order

you would think it would just not work, or run like crap all the time.
