I was thinking about converting my s14 to hid and always wanted to..I just didnt know if there were any plus or minuses to the big K kits?
The 12000k has a nice violet look and they advetise the 15000k as ruby violet...I like the look of the ruby Violet but if its going to be so bright that people flash at me all of the time then that may get annoying too...
I have my eye on one but I think ill wait from you that have tried them..
Brian
PS: for those that will ask,i have oem 240 plastic lenses but they are polished to clear as they can be...I may plan on the super made covers down the road.

Why would the color temperature make people flash at you? If you use retrofits and do it right, the cut off would be the same no matter what temperature you use. you probably wont be able to see shit using 15000k or even 12000k, plus it looks ricey as fuck. I'd go for the clearest whitest temperature, something around 6000k.

Is its a Zenki or a Kouki? If Kouki - by all means, go ahead, I believe it is designed for HID. If Zenki, it will probably not look right and the advantages of HID will be lost because the beam will not focus correctly - it'll look like you have your brights on all the time. If anything, get some Kouki lenses, cut out the lense and graft them to the Zenki (easier said than done). OR! Save yourself some trouble and 'update' the front end.

dumbest post ever much?
get kouki lenses and graft them to the zenki??? what in the holy fucking hell are you talking about?
why would someone swap from zenki to kouki just to have HIDs...what a fucking waste of money that would be.
Read OP's first post, he has oem plastic lenses. Kouki headlights have glass lenses.
So seriously, OP, get glass headlights, retrofit an HID projector out of a 350z or some shit and bam HID that functions as it is supposed to.

type in HID into the search field and you'll get way more answers then starting stupid threads like this.
polished? As in you sanded down the flutes or you just cleaned the outside of your zenki lights as best as you can, if you did sand off the flutes then:
audi uses OEM HIDs, 4000-6000K, thats the range for white light.
only use OEM HID, since your plastic is already clear the projectors will give you the clean cut off you want, just sticking a bulb in will scatter the light everywhere and you wont be able to see anything.

zenki glass headlights have fluted lenses, it will just scatter the HID cutoff. You either have to have HID's designed to work with the flutes or have a clear lense + projector.

I expected maybe this thread had been revived from like 2004 or some shit.
Go to HIDplanet.com, or check out the info section at clearcorners.com.
You're gonna get a bunch of dumbass dudes talking out of their ass on their forum that don't know shit (like kouki S14 headlights being designed for HIDs :jerkit: ).

Anything above 6000K is like driving with your eyes closed no matter what kind of lens you're using.
But it looks cool at HIN and will get you laid by a filthy import whore with gonorrhea , and it seems that's what counts to these bandwagon kids so have at it.

As was mentioned above, Audi HID's are around 5000K. The purplish tinge comes from the cutoff, not the color of the bulb. Anything above 8000K is some serious ricer shit. Plus, you will be a cop magnet because you're lighting will be so obvioulsy illegal. Plus, you won't be able to see shit at night with that color. Plus, the fluted lenses will glare like crazy. Are you planning on retrofitting in projectors, or dropping in HID bulbs? Unless you retrofit projectors, they will glare like crazy. Also, it sounds like you think the higher the number, the brighter the bulbs. Wrong. The number is only a measurement of the color of the bulb.
In conclusion: don't do it.

hid kits.....are ka ka :ugh:
hidplanet.com FTMW
if you want all the cool purple and blue colors.....like mentioned above, the cut off from the hid projector lens is what gives out the cool color not the bulb....
if you want the real deal, hid projector retrofit is the way to go,nuff said....to the poster above, open your eyes and do some research
BTW:It has been confirmed long ago that koukie projectors are non-hid just like 98 and under SC300's,j30's,etc...

You must have night vision in your eyes.
there's is no way you can see better with 12000 kelvins. Your stock halogen bulbs has much more luminous than your HID.
If you're going to make those claims, atleast show proof. Post pictures of your lights hitting the road.

If your hid drop in kit isn't anything close to that, then you need to stfu.
ALL OEM HID ARE 4300 KELVINS! See that purple cutoff? already explained how and why it's there in this thread.
