Will that fit the S13 or the S14? I thought the driveshaft was pretty different on the S15...

i am pretty sure its different, it has a speed sensor and when you get an S15 engine, you need the diff as well

IIRC, the Spec R LSD is helical, not viscous. Similar in construction to a Quaife. Very nice piece. If you are just swapping in the diff, then you should be able to fit it to your existing pumpkin/driveshafts by playing with the output shafts (might have to swap). If you are trying to swap in the whole pumpkin, you might have trouble with the input shaft. S13 you will at least have to swap the backing plate.

Hey sr20man, can you confirm whether it's a helical or a viscous? I read that the manual transmission Spec R have a helical and the automatic ones have a viscous.
and whether there is anything else needed such as shafts? thanx.

S15 Spec R's with the automatic trans have a viscous LSD.

If this is the unit that was on eBay recently, it's nothing but the VLSD unit itself, and will require a set of VLSD output shafts and professional install into an existing diff carrier.

Okay folks here's the scoop:
It is not a helical LSD. A customer brought his car in to the shop and asked for a KAAZ LSD installed...don't know why since the Spec R LSD is a pretty good LSD if you ask me. Oh well, I never argue over what the customer wants.
He had a S14 SpecR which was actually a 6spd model. Oddly enough when I pulled the LSD out it was actually a regular ol LSD rather than the Helical. So it's confirmed as a VLSD.
Anyone who has access to an impact wrench can pretty much do the swap in less than 45mins. It's a simple process.
I've sold a few of these to US and European customers in which no one has yet to ask for the side flanges. When I do swap outs to aftermarket LSDs I use the original side flanges so I don't happen to have any spares at my place but can probably track some down for those of you that think you may need it. Zilvia User RUF seems to know more about this than I do...."RUF" spot me on this one...thanks

S14 6 speed?

Well, anyway, if it is an R200 VLSD unit, it really doesn't matter where it comes from... &nbsp;Infiniti J30, R32, Z32, S13/14/15, they're all more or less the same. &nbsp; But they will require the VLSD specific output shafts. &nbsp;Aftermarket LSDs vary on which output shafts they're designed to use.

Everyone else seems to know more than I do about this since I thought the thing was helical! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> I had no idea about the autos coming with a VLSD.

But anyways, AKA is correct on the shafts. If it's an R200 LSD, then you just have to find the appropriate VLSD shafts for your car (to match up the bolt pattern with your driveshafts 5/6 bolt). I know that Kaaz LSDs come in different models whether you have stock LSD or open diff so that you can use whatever shafts you've already got. VERY convenient. I'm not sure about Cusco. Nismo makes an LSD that includes new shafts.
