Kaaz lsd problem

Ok, so I got a used solid 16 2 way Kaaz lsd today. I wanted to check out the plates to see how worn they were, so I opened it:loco: . Now I can't get the damn thing to closed. It seems like there isn't enough room for it to close or mabye it has to be pressed to close the gap. There is a pic of what I'm talking about. Any help would be great.
