So here it is. the final product.
I cadded both internal shafts and all their respective gears, Jack did the flywheel/clutch and Chris did the housing.
GSX-R 600 drive-train CAD from the Cal formula SAE car... Bitches.

Posted/commented. Great fuckin work, man, the cutaways are clean, the models are accurate (except for the friction/drive plates in the clutch, they're modeled as one piece where a cutaway of all 13 would be cool), but fuck that looks like a ton of work.
One question about the car this was on: They used a butterfly-type cable for the gear shift (like bikes use for throttle) I'm sure, but what was their actual final drive system? Gear? Chain? Shaft? I've been wanting to put a spare GSXR1000 motor in a kart, but I hate the idea of a chain snapping right behind my head... Just curious as to what the 'pros' did.

woooooooooow. that's soooo awesome. Hmmm with a program like that I can "digitize" my ideas for stuff. Interesting. But good work man. Your project rocks.

Yeah, we basically worked on it for a month.
For the gear shifting, we actually used a nitrogen tank to fire off an actuator.
Our final drive was a chain from the output sprocket and we used a forward differential from an audi and some VW axles.

IT IS! hahaha and Sonic the Hedgehog too.

in about a month
we had the CADs done by spring break. All the animation and assembly was done in about ~12days after that.
its just the GSXR tranny, nothing real secret about it. haha

Looks good man. Do you have a foot clutch on the car? And do you have to clutch everytime you shift?
I"m on the University of Wisconsin's team, I didn't see you guys in Detroit, so I'm assuming you weren't there? (then again I didn't see everyone)

Na, we weren't there. Still working on getting this car done and we only really go to Fontanna since everything else is hard for us to transport to.
Yes, there is a foot clutch, no foot clutch is only for downshifting since we're using a motorcycle transmission.

Right thats what I meant. Do you like the foot clutch? Our car is so tight down there that theres no way we could have a foot clutch.
