Why do people not like black cars... is it because it is hard to clean them, because it leaves streaks or something? What is the best color for a car then?

Hard to get very clean to begin with (hard water spots, wax residue are highly visable which would fade into lighter colors)and a color that shows dirt quickly if you do get it clean, but damn 240's look nice in a clean jacket of black.

I'd say silver is a color that usually looks pretty good even when dirty. I suppose brown is a color you'd never even bother trying to get clean

IMO black looks the best on cars. When it is clean it is sooo sexy. It sucks when its dirty, but I plan on babying my car if I ever get black paint job.

My 240 is currently in the process of being repainted black. The old paint, which was in fair condition, did look bad ass after I washed it and/or waxed it. I'll post some pics of the new paint when me and my dad get it done once I figure out how to post pictures.

How do you have 1100+ posts and still not have a 240? Just get one already dammit!!!!

I thought I was slow to get a car when it took me three months. I think uiuc240 and my gf were ready to kill me.

I really like RED on the 240SX! Mine is maroon that looks really nice when it is clean and stays perty nice even when it is a little dirty.

black is nice if it is a new paint job with clear coat. unfortunately, most of my clear coat is long gone, so the road dust just sticks after a couple days.

another reason that black is a pain in the ass is that swerl marks show up about 10 times more than any other color
and if you buff the car then you will have to hand wax it about 3 times to get out the lines that the buffer leaves

white and sliver is that easyes car to keep looking clean

if i was to paint my car agen it would be pearl white i love the way that paint looks under the sun the bad thing about that paint is that it is very expencive$$$$$ and white is a paint in the ass to wax unless you have a garage with good lighting

alright, i have a black car, i've also had a red car, 2 white cars, and another black one. at night, absolutely nothing looks as good as black, nothing even comes close. but my god is it a pain to keep nice. the toughest part is when you buy a black used car, it's usually in pretty rough shape. i was a professional detailer for 5 years, and it took me a solid 2+ hours after work every day for a week to get it looking good. i also have to wash the car a minimum of once a week. which is usually followed by a quick hand wax. well, after a year, the wax got so built up that the color of the wax started to show through (green) instead of the black paint. so tonight i had to wash it a couple times with dish soap to strip off all the cheap hand wax. so even when you're obsessive about keeping it nice, it still comes back to haunt you. and boy you better know what you're doing if you attempt to use a high speed buffer. it may look absolutely perfect in the garage, but when you pull it out in the sun it looks like absolute shit. plan on spending an afternoon on the car everytime you break out the high-speed with a compound that has ANY grit in it.

but...........if i was buying a new car, and i could take care of it properly from the start, i still might get black. either that or white.

good point tnord
if you have never used a buffer get one that has a varealbe speed buffer start at a low speed and work your way up
and rember no to burn the paint
ive done it and it sux mostly because it wanst my car

black cars suck if you own it. they look awsome... stealthy, and possible mean but my god is it a pain in the ass to keep looking good. because its black and black absorbs all the colors its friggin hot, and it absorbs all the suns rays so it gets damaged like after a month if you keep your car outside alot. keeping it clean is a mission, and cleaning it is a mission w/ all the water spots that get left behind. you also see every little peice of dirt on the car, and if you ever need to repaint the car...fo get abou it. your gonna be able to tell the difference from the original paint and the new paint. very hard to match black

exactly, my civic was black, and from more than 15 feet away, it was absolutely beautiful, I loved how it looked when it was clean, but it was such a bitch to keep it clean, and when you got up real close you could see every single scratch/dent/ding in the car

Both my cars are as black as my soul

They look cool for about 10 minutes after I wash them...which isn't often.

whats the paint code > ?

<- painting car grey.. was going to use the 2001 durango grey but not sure

it does look somewhat grey. that was the day i spent 2 hours washing my car after i got the 7 spoke wheels. i thought i'd take a picture so i went driving to find a spot and it started drizzling. everywhere i went there were black clouds. i drove all around town looking for a dry spot and this was the only one left and it was about to rain there too. the picture i took was dark, so i had to lighten it up with photoshop and i think the combo of the glare on the hood, and the editing makes it look bad. i need a new 240SX picture for my sig i guess

edit: here is a picture, about 30 seconds before it got dark
