When I first bought the car it would shake around 65mph, i had stock wheels and the front ones had different tread. one had a little and the other had none at all. I put my back ones on the front which both had the same tread and put on two 18" rims on the back, i cross threaded one wheel stud with a honda lug nut by accident. Now the whole car is shaking around 50mph. could it be the ball joints or the tie rods? What else could it be?

Your wheels could be on crooked or something since you did a horrid job putting them on.

Other than that it could be:

Wheel balancing
Tie rods,
Probably anything else in your suspension . .

This weekend i'm hopefully getting a wheel balance and alignment. Also i just had my 18th birthday and parents told me that they are going to buy me some tein s tech springs. Anything else on the suspension i should check? I'm not too much of a mech, so probably thorough explanation is needed.

Check your motor mounts. My car shook around that same mph and one of my motor mounts was completely severed in two.

After getting Cusco mounts during my SR swap it never happened again.

When my friend put in my tach the other day he told me i had a broken motor mount. How much are they and how hard are they to put in? I have access to a couple hydrolic lifts if that helps any

Not extremely hard, you have to lift the engine up enough to get the old mounts out and the new ones in. Just be careful you don't break anything when lifting the engine up.

If you have found that this shaking got worse after you put the other wheels on, you can rule motor mounts out. Now im not saying this is the solution to your problem, but I had a similar problem to what you are having. Look into hub-centric spacers. This was my cure. GL man. :)

Mathetai is right. Everyone else fails.

Motor mounts? LOL A broken motor mount won't make your car shake like that. Though you need one, just swap them with whatever. Keep in mind all motor mounts other than oem will make your car have more vibration in the cockpit.

Go to the local tire shop and have the wheels balanced and then buy hubcentric rings.

Get that stud fixed. If you have poor lug...er. Ahem. 4lug and you're missing a lug or you can't snug one down properly that means you're only tightening your wheels down with 75% of it's potential.

When the shop balances the wheels that will tell you if they are out of round.

Once you finish that, get an alignment. You know you're over due for one anyways. =)

+1 for Hub-centric rings and balancing.

sometimes its something as simple and improperly worn tires (bald)

thats what usually causes mine

Got mine from Discount Tire Direct. Note their eBay store is cheaper. Just tell them the Car brand and Wheel brand and they should tell you what you need.
