Can anyone tell me the exact difference between purchasing a SR20DET engine and a SR20DET front clip? From what I've heard, it seems that the front clip is the whole front portion of the car. But where does the front clip end? What is included in the front clip that isn't included if you were to just purchase the engine.

Thanks!

The front clip is basically the whole front portion of the car from the firewall to the headlights, somtimes they have portions of the interior dash still in decent condition. But very rarely they have the body panels and headlights still there or in good condition.

The front clip consists of everything in the engine bay, its basically buying the full front portion of the car. While just purchasing the engine itself you only get the engine, tranny, ecu, harness etc.

the benefit of buying a front clip is not having to search for ages for a radiator, fan shroud, AC compressor, little hoses (vacuum or otherwise), intercooler and related piping, etc. etc. It makes life, apparently, MUCH easier when doing a garage (DIY) swap.

So can the swap be done by just changing the engine or is everything else REQUIRED? I mean... is it really necessary to change the transmission, radiator, etc?

No the swap can not be done by just replacing the enginge there are many things that are not interchangable between the sr and the Ka. When they say the sr is basically a bolt in swap they don't mean that easy.

Ah. Okay. Thanks. Well, I'm gonna try to get a front clip shipped to me from Japan. Just in case that they don't understand the meaning of front clip, where does the front clip end? the transmission?

Well they cut from the front winshield down and leave the tranny on (in most cases).

BTW: Good luck on the wiring! &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>
