pick a couch!

i'm buying a new couch. my current couch/chair combo is an orange/brown plaid 70's relic i picked up at an estate sale for 10 bucks. but, i feel i've grown up and it's time to get some real furniture.

i've narrowed it down to two choices, both Ikea. i've sat in both, both are very comfortable, and both offer pretty much the same seating space. both are about the same price, too.

"KRAMFORS" series couch/chaise. i'd probably go with the "dark grey", which is pretty much black in person. they have a leather version that i had my eye on a while back, but i wound up with a cat, and now leather furniture is pretty much out of the question (although, if i ever find a good deal on a classic Eames lounge chair, kitty's getting declawed). would be paired, again, with the matching footstool:

the orange looks like the cushions may move around after sitting on them for a while. id say go for the black one.

anything would match. walls=white, floor=grey. this is going into the new apartment i'm moving into in june... so, pretty bland walls.

yeah, just looking for a few more opinions on it. i'm leaning hard towards option b, though, just because the frame seems sturdier.

and black covers up spills, great for slobs like me and my friends :D

Props for having style, I like all of them, the orange might be too bright for the eyes, but the design is nice, they have a European look to them. Option B for style but as mentioned black is a bitch to keep clean. If they offer anything leather, spring the extra bucks for it just for the ease of clean up.

Yeah I like the Black as well. Keeping it clean is a bit of a pain but it looks nice. The orange would be cool, but would annoying over time.

pretty much all of my furniture is going to be black/polished metal/cherry wood. i'm pretty much set on the second couch, and while the room could use some more color, i think i'm going to get it with a nice shag rug. way easier/cheaper to change out if i get tired of it. i'll probably get myself a nice lime green one, although crazier ones like this one have been catching my eye:

ikea couches both feel and look like crap, but if you must buy an ikea couch, go with B.

If I were you i'd look around for some better quality furniture at the same price.

I'd say go with the black, I've seen a lot more really well put together nuetral rooms than colourful. Nuetral works great and can change with your mood, colourful can get to you at times (I've had an orange couch before). Although, both are nice couches you have nice decorating taste.

I can understand the need for opinions on something like a living room. It is most likely going to be the room you entertain the most in, and what you think looks good this week could change and be totally different to the people who would be in it in the future.

ikea is usually disposable furniture anyway so you'll end up getting a new couch when you're done living in your new place.

Irrespective of color, the option B looks much better. It's the legs. They looks solid on B, whereas option A looks like they would fold over. B has cleaner lines too.
