I have a 1990 240sx and I am having trouble with my steering. I was driving to work one morning just cruizing and all of a sudden my steering wheel turned right. I was still driving straight but my steering wheel was off. I can still drive my car but the steering feels sloppy and when I hit a bump I hear a knock coming from the rear of my car. I looked underneath my car and I do not see anything broken. my car does not have power steering and I have already checked the belts and everything looks good. the only thing that I have done is replaced my stock steering wheel with racing steering wheel. but that was a few months ago. my suspension is stock and so is everything else. does anybody have a clue to what may be the problem with my car I would appreciate any help. thanks

Are you serious? I can't understand what is happening because you're not explaining it well. If your steering wheel all of a sudden turned right by itself, your car is definitely possessed. Sell it and buy another one before it starts hurling green vomit from the exhaust lol. Seriously though, from the bits and pieces of useful info you gave, I'd say you installed a hub that wasn't for your car. Put the stock wheel back on. As for the knock in the rear, check your strut mounts.

if i was you i'd get my alignment checked, sounds like you got either a loose front sway bar, or tension rod. something in your front end broke loose. I cannot remember off the top of my head what part it was when I had this issue

Sounds like you stripped out the steering wheel hub, either that or the steering coupler at the rack. Quit driving it until it's fixed, you're likely to kill someone.

if you say you have no power steering, it would be pointless to check the belts. you have no power steering.... besides that i would check the new steering wheel first... then front end suspension. if not!??, yah your car is possesed..... oh check your steering rack, boots might be ripped, leakin ps fluid... check it out.....
unless you removed the power steering you still have it. no 240 from what i know came without power steering. they all have em' even the base models.
