if they arent acting up them. then no you dont need to change your master or slave.

it might help to change your slave sometimes because that gets warn out fast.

if you change your clutch and it doesnt grab that hard mite be because your pressure plate or your slave is weak.

know what clutch your getting so you will know the stiffness of it.

You can get a new slave cylinder from Autozone for under 30$. I put a new one from Autozone on my SR and it's working fine.

Master and slave do not need to get changed unless they are not working. You should probably get your flywheel resurfaced tho. Everything else should be good. Oh yea, buy some loctite and some grease.

You should resurface the flywheel. Or at least scuff it up! From my experience with slave cylinders from kragen/autozone, its better to get OEM. The kragen/autozone ones are cheaply rebuilt so sometimes they work, sometimes they are just faulty. They do this b/c they are so cheaply rebuilt, they can afford to give you an inferior product and give you a lifetime warranty for it. You are the one thats installing it anyway so it doesn't cost them a penny for labor. I went through two screwed up ones before I got one that works. Im still using that one for over a year now.

I spent a bit more and got the LuK slave cyl from autozone, I don't think those cheap ones are rebuilt, they don't even look like oem ones that say japan on them. Anyway, I replaced the cheap one that was on my car when I got it with an luk and my clutch pedal was noticably stiffer. There was no core charge for it, so I don't think they are rebuilt.

The one i got didn't require a core exchange neither. It stated it was rebuilt on the reciept tho. Im not complaining with it, it still works. The OEM one is cheap enough to forget aftermarket/rebuilt ones anyway. Aren't Nismo slaves just rebadged z31 oem nissan slaves? I heard that somewhere.

REAR MAIN SEAL
How did EVERYONE neglect to mention that.
I know it seems like an unnecessary addition to a clutch job, but it is inexpensive and is just one of those items that one would rather replace while they're already there, instead of dicking around and having to take it all out in order to do it later.

how about a torque wrench for flywheel bolts 110 ftlbs and clutch bolts 27-32 ft-lbs if I remember correctly

Pilot bushing remover

this is extremely handy. haha.

just to add to the list, i would also do the front seal on the tranny. might as well do the rear d/s seal as well.

and you should at least budget for both master and slave. old ones can suddenly blow when you bleed/flush.

You can rent the pilot bearing removal tool and a slide hammer from your local autozone or pepboys for free. You just have to give them a deposit. You should also consider replacing that rear main seal like philip said because you dont want to do it later and its fairly easy and cheap. Don't skimp on your car. You get out what you put into it.
