I think the demo was good. But IMO I don't think it blew me away. The only thing I felt was a big upgrade over GT were the graphics. I did like it though and will be buying the game at the end of the month.

You didn't? I liked it..driving each car was a different experience. And the sounds..well I really love car audio so I was in heaven. The tire physics where spot on too. However on the contrary the one place that I feel GT takes the cake is the graphic dept.

I said I liked it. I just wasn't blown away. I think the Forza people hyped it up TOO much for me. I was just expecting a little more. Granted this is just the demo.

Yea the cars all felt different, but they all feel different in GT too :ugh: ...That's like a no brainer. Maybe they feel more different, but it's nothing to write home about IMO.

Like i said I liked and I'm looking forward to the final game. The online gameplay is going to be so def. I don't doubt I will like it better then GT4.

I had the Diving Force Pro for GT4, and it felt that way to me. :)

On the F2 forums one of the Turn10 guys said that the damage is only visual in the demo and arcade mode. In simulation it effects your car.

today i was playing around with the f430, i just stood in place and turned the camera sideways, so i see the whole side of the car. And started doing a burnout, in a matter of 5 seconds the brakes turned smoking red :)

as you let off it cools down and you see the difference.

Yes inter-manufacturer drivetrain swaps are possible.

I've seen in game screenshots of S2k RWD in a civic, and also CRV AWD I think.
Also things like an RB26 AWD will probably be swappable into the s13 and s14.

well nothing like the d1gp game but its good.

in the final game you will be able to modify a car so badly that its gonna be a drifting machine.

Forza 1 had drifting tournaments. 2 cars drift around a track while a 3 watches and records

i'd rather have that realism. Not sure why, but im just nit picky about that in driving games. The physics for drifting are amazing in Forza 2. The way it reacts when you give it too much gas when spinning out or transitioning from side to side has it completely down. It has all of the variables of the actual physics programed. You can monitor the friction force, and temp of each wheel; suspension travel of each strut, and the 360 degree G force graph, all in real time.

I played for an hour and I have the S14 Silvia K's from D level to A level making 389hp. The type II Advans look fuckin slick!

I also won an 86, '69 Fairlady Z, VIS Racing DC3 Type-R and a Mugen DC5 Type-R.

The game is mad fun but the snakes on the proving grounds freaked me out. I really don't like snakes.

BTW FedEx shipments were late in and around SF. Only the GameStop in the Metro Center had the game by 12 noon. Everyone says to call back after 2pm.

I started with the S14 also. I wanna sell it and get the S13 Silvia.

My short review:
I think the game is OK. Seriously. Just OK. It doesn't have the sense of speed like GT does. It feels a little flat over-all.

Online play though rocks. That's going to go a loooong way with how long I continue to play the game.

Graphics, are eh. Not very impressive actually. Yea they look good, but nothing mind boggeling. The environments are especially bland.

I haven't dove too far into the tuning aspect as of yet but did make some tweeks. The physics are really accurate though.

I think if I had the wheel it would be a little more immersive (I have the GT Force Pro w/ GT4).

I'd give the game an 8 out of 10.

This is my review so far.
So I finally got it..played for a couple hours last nite. Here is my initial review of Forza 2. I will lower my fanboy flag and give some honest critic ;)

It starts off w/ the same intro as the demo..it's safe, not as annoying as the one in Forza 1. I jumped into Career mode, presentation has the original Forza feel but much more polished. I chose the Japan region and looked for a race mule. This is where the blandness slaps you in the face..none of the cars jump out and make you think, this car looks cool..I want to drive it :-/

I choose the Savanna RX-7 and started the beginner races. It's a real nuetral car and fun to toss around. After you get used to the weight transfer it starts to feel too easy though. I originally started w/ the AI on medium and ABS on so then I changed it to no assists and AI on hard..WOW those little buggers are fast and talented! I really had to push my little RX7 to catch up and it made me appreciate the physics more. The AI has really improved..in one turn I tried to late brake and pass on the outside, then noticed another AI car trying to pass the same car on the inside :eek3d: I was not expecting that..we were three deep in the turn and no one willing to give ground. The middle one eventually fell back and then it was a dash to the next turn. Fun race :) Brake modulation is much better than the first game..it's real easy to get the right amount of pedal before locking up. The beginner races get annoying after awhile bc it's the same location just different ribbons..so you get the same scenery same lighting, they should have changed it up a little.

The first car I won was the Trueno..kinda ugly so I decided to make it look nice. Changed the 80's style wheels to Work Equips. What I thought was ass backwards was the rim size mod. You have to first buy the wheel, then pay to make them bigger..then pay to make them wider? You should be able to select your rim, height and width from the beggining and pay one price..but that's nitpicking. I love the fact that lighter wheels add to the performance of the car. Heavier wheels can be used as a tool to bring the perf index down if you want to get out of a class. Painting is nice, though when you paint the wheels it paints the whole wheel..so if it has a shiny lip that gets painted too :-/ Also some cars are two-toned and only one color can be changed. After I customizing the Trueno that bland feeling started to go away :) I also won a 240Z (my fav car at the mooment) I customized that one too, took a pic and uploaded it to the FM.net servers and here it is (shrunk it)

So far every car I won has been a blast to drive no perf mods needed. I later checked the leaderboards and was able to toggle and see what lap times my friends were running. It also gives you details as to their perf index and what assists they used. So far I am satisfied w/ the game. GT did spoil me in the looks dept and it occasionally urks me that Forza doesn't look the same but I'm having fun and for now it's all that matters.

Im with Exitspeed 100%. Forza just fails to capture the presence of speed. It urks me that they call this a "real simulator" when the priorities in the game are graphics and customization. I could care less how many layers of vinyl I can have on my car. I want speed, I want to feel speed, I want to see speed.

The physics are a VAST improvement from the first one. I played the 1st forza for all of a week I think. Even at 60fps, the game still feels floaty and washed out. I cant wait to play Sebring on it.

Overall its a fun game, but I am waiting on GT5.

umm....no im not talking about the need for speed blur garbage. In gt4 you had a feeling of how fast you were going and didnt have to look at the speedo.

First time I played Sebring I thought it was a real pain in the ass. There are no markers for the brake zones and too many right angle turns. I used my Sparco EVO VIII and found out the meaning of the crash modeling and physics. I did a head on understeer crash with the wall and the exhaust start blowing smoke and the boost was all fucked up. The front of the car was just nasty looking with intercooler all tore up and the hood pushed in.

I really like the game but my online experience sucked. Lagged like a motherfucker! The cars keep jumping around everywhere and you can't tell you collided with another car until its too late. PGR3 has a much better online engine but F2 is just more fun.

I'm gonna guess this is from the stress caused by it being a new game, unexpected online usage, people uploading photos etc etc. Seems to happen with most games when they first hit stores. Hopefully they iron it out. I only witnessed this problem maybe 3 times out of the 20 or so races I did last night online.

I like Forza more than GT even based on drifting and the interface. I THINK Forza does a better presentation of actual race tracks. Specifically Laguna Seca feels more realistic, but this is based on the countless videos I have watched of that track.

I just bought an Xbox 360 just for this game. I have to say I'm very happy. Playing this on my parents' 46'' LCD is amazing. I have to get the wheel today since I had it for GT4 and loved it.

My favorite A-class car so far is the TVR Sagaris. mmmm....

Has anyone bought or used the 360 wheel for this game? I just bought it yesterday and there is so much play on the steering wheel shaft that connects to the main assembly. If I lift the steering wheel from the bottom, it moves at least 4 mm upward.

I searched about this problem and others seem to have it too. Just seeing if I have a defective one or something.... This wheel doesn't have the same build quality as the GT Driving Force Pro for GT4.

Turdz do you have it plugged in the wall? I know on a joystick I had with Force Feedback it had tons of play, but as soon as I hooked it all up it was gone because the motors 'engaged'. Also I've heard you're supposed to use PGR3 to calibrate it or something like that...

Otherwise, no I haven't heard any complaints, everything I've read said the wheel was really sturdy and nobody complained about the play...

Also, I don't own one, I'm just thinking it could be the force feedback motors.

Yeah it's plugged into the wall, but the play I'm talking about isn't the rotational play. Whether the power is on or off, I can wiggle the steering shaft up, left and right.

Anyway, don't wanna turn this into a troubleshooting thread.

The game so far is great with the wheel, well worth it. The TVR Sagaris has so much power oversteer it's crazy. Just a couple degrees off steering center and the tail end just swings around. There seem to be some slippery surfaces on Laguna Seca, specifically turns 2, 3, and 6.

Couple more cars I'm working on... getting a lot quicker with the editor! The game with the wheel is a lot of fun, and while it is more realistic it seems like you're at a disadvantage using it because a) you need to move a lot more than just using the controller and thumbstick, and b) you are fighting the force feedback. I use the wheel when I'm playing in career mode, and then switch to the control for online/multiplayer. JMO. Love this game so far!

The first car is my S15 goof-around car, and the S14 is my D-class multiplayer car. D-class racing is a hoot... you don't have a lot to work with, so you have to try a lot of different setups to try to get every advantage that you can. It's also cheap and the competition is usually pretty tight since the cars are so slow/easy to drive.

I just wish the S14 had more/better aero... where's the Origin and Vertex? :P

Keep an eye out for fullboost14... that's my gamertag.

I'm loving this game so far.

D-class racing is a hoot... you don't have a lot to work with, so you have to try a lot of different setups to try to get every advantage that you can. It's also cheap and the competition is usually pretty tight since the cars are so slow/easy to drive.

D class racing sounds awesome... how are people online, I remember in PGR2 most people would just spin others out, or hit them full speed going into a corner.

It depends. Sometimes you get into newb races where everyone piles up in the first corner, and sometimes you get into good, close races. Fortunately, it's been more of the latter so far.

Doing the online career races definitely helps since you can win money towards your career that way, so people are less likely to screw around.

The Minis are beasts in D. I've seen the Elans be pretty fast, too, since you can swap a 190-hp 2ZZ engine into it and get it down to 1500ish lbs and have it still be D-legal. IMO, the S13 is classed wrong because it's only a little faster (power-to-weight) than the S14 but has nearly an 80-point PI handicap.

The S14 seems to be working the best for me... 47.5s around Tsukuba Short, haven't run the whole circuit in it yet... it's just suspension, some weight reduction, tires, a bone stock motor, and LOTS of suspension tuning (400 PI, D-class). I get schooled on tracks with long straights, but I'm usually all over people's bumpers on the turns. :p

all i gotta say is WOW!!!! my xbox 360 and forza 2 came in yesterday..... absolutely the best simulation racing game ive ever played! with a few minor bolt ons and around 385D class i got around1:04 in an s14.....

now with the time trials with that HKS evo 8 i got 1:54 at tsukuba. my goal is to get an s13/ s14 to handle as good as the hks evo.

I'm pissed at xbox live though, I try to buy a gold membership... can't do that because there is no way to input my billing address (stupid military APO address)

I try to get a plain silver account, once I get to the last step it forces me to take this 1 month trial gold account... asks for billing info again.
