avila beach is pretty nice, especially if you're swimming next to the pier you'll get your ass hooked by the fishermen.

South bay ftw. Torrance Avenues/Hermosa/El Porto/Manhattan all kick a$$ when a south swell kicks in.

yeah corona del ray and hermosa....and la jolla is nice aswell. most southern cali beaches are more of an attraction with sites and restaurants, with nice beaches, down here its not really filled with coves. yuo'd have to look around...i think i saw one in malibu i forgot what beach it was but it was malibu or a beach next to it...lol i visited the beaches from palos verdes to the north of malibu that day.
My favorite is Seal Beach.
Never crowded, nice small shop area nearby for ice-cream, etc.
Very residential.
I used to walk there after work everday during the summer.

ahhh yes, my old stomping grounds back in my csulb days. what yuri says is very true, but i have seen it crowded on 4th of july and other bbq holidays. other then that its very chill.
there are some good beaches in SD county if you wanna drive far. la jolla and carlsbad are not to bad either.

used to go to La jolla all the time when i would head to SD. NOw i usually just stay at Huntington. Good waves and if you take beach blvd. back to the freeway you cna hit Super Autobacs and Red Robins on the way home.

Nah man you haven't had Red Robin 'til you've had a Banzai Burger, cooked medium, no tomato and a side of ranch for the endless fries. :bigok:

HMmmm.... endless fries. I like to ask for them before my burger comes out. Because it's cheap and I'm hungry and too poor to get anything else.

Try going more up north, around the Oxnard area. Take the 1 all the way up to Oxnard, from Malibu (great drive btw). The nicest beach there is Mandalay Bay Beach. It's a state park, so it's always clean.
