OK, so I finally got my tach working this weekend and I took her out for a spin. Well, I found out that all this time I've had the SR, I've been driving it like a KA and shifting at about 6000-6500 rpm. Oops. So, I wrap it all the way out to 7500 and guess what: mad shifter noise. Apparently the B&M is not fixed. But honestly, I don't mind. It's kind of like a shift light

I wanted to share all this with you so you can think about it before getting the shifter. It still doesn't vibrate at cruising speed, but above 7 grand, it gets LOUD. It amplifies all the vibrations coming from the engine and tranny...kinda makes me wonder how the damn car stays together

Anyway, just thought you all should know. And yes, this is the redesigned B&M. Just got it 2 weeks ago.

I'm going to post this at FA and on the 240 list and I think I'll write B&M about it. You should too.

Well ,maybe you should swap a KA back into the car and then you don't have to worry about going over 7 grand. I've got a KA I'd sell you real cheap. Heck, I'll even cut you a good deal if you trade in the SR, because it's you!

thanks man! you're the best. i was starting to get tired of boost. i think i'm going to try and swap in a D15 from an old rusty Civic...cuz that would be sweet. right?

The OBX I have makes a loud vibrating Rattling type noise above 5000 rpm in 1st and 2nd. But it only started doing that after I put a lighter shift knob on it (Nismo GT). I bet if you put a weighted shift knob on there it would eliminate a lot of that sound.

btw - just curious. hows the turbo above 6K rpm? seem like it's still blowing good? or is it running out of steam??

i definitely runs out of oomph up that high. that's why i was shifting early before. i would shift by feel, and that's about where the hp peak would happen (~6500 rpm). however, it's nice to go up that high, because the next gear is right in the sweet spot. it's weird to be able to go almost 100 in third. i never did that before

I found that when it is cold outside it is beneficial to shift around 6600-6800rpm but when it is hot the t25 ain't giving up nuttin' above 6k

Well, i don't think it's really that big of a deal when the noise only happens around 7k. Honestly, when is that going to happen besides when you race, and do you really care if you're racing?

right, and I agree with that. I just wanted to set the story straight. This way, if someone gets one and expects it to be quiet all the time, they won't buy one and then bitch at me for not saying so. It helps me have a clear conscience. That's all folks.
