Some people gave me **** for wanting to paint my Advans and I'm sure more people will. But they were badly faded and looked like ****. but here are some pics of the work so far.

The green actually darker then it looks, the flash made it look brighter. Not too bad for a rattle can job. I hope they look good on the car. We'll see when its finished.

good luck mounting tires w/o chipping the paint...nice idea tho....ugly colors imo but glad to see you took the time to mask them off properly so they came out looking clean. what about the center caps tho?

Maybe if you end up not liking it you can throw some acitone on it and get all the paint off then some metalic cleaner and try some other stuff too.

Anyway it looks good for a spray can, but it kinda makes them look like replica advans.. but anyway Im sure they look good.

I used Rustoleum Enamel which I hear dries pretty hard. We did my friends wheels that he painted and we lubed the living shit outta them with and it worked good with no paint chipping. So hopefully mine works out as well. As for the center caps I'm still trying to figure out a way to mask it since I wanna keep the lettering. A friend mentioned using petroleum jelly and brushing it over the lettering to mask it. Supposedly he has seen some rx-7 guys do this. You guys every heard of this method?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Paint can always be stripped and I got this stuff that strips it off like butter. Yeah I figured they might make em look like replica's but at least I know their the real thing. :)

Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah I know the green is kinda a hit or miss thing. I was looking for a green to accent my camo green rattle can paint job. I would've liked to have used the same green but they didn't have it in enamel and I thought the rims might've looked weird with a flat green lip.

I would have used something a little better on the centers...A high gloss paint of some sort. The paint you used looks like it belongs on the outside of a barbecue grill or something haha

nice wheels, im loving the flat green on the car even more. haha i dunno but spray can flat looks better than flat sprayed on with a gun. flat sprayed with a gun comes out like satin. satin cars just dont look right. call me crazy.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to agree. The green lip really blends into the car leaving everything else just floating there.

Strip the lip and polish it. Leave the spokes black. Imo.

LOL Man I forgot that I had this thread. Well after a year later I finally got around to finishing the wheels and mounted them yesterday so I decided to post up a pic. Still need to drop the car about another inch, pick up some 30mm spacers, and roll the fenders. But heres how it sits now.
