So I've been working a little at a time on this swap, using Ritz write up as a guide:

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=98131

Got the big 36mm nut off the output shaft, removed the four 19mm holding the hub and preceded pulling the hubs off. Strapped my puller on and all of a sudden I hear a pop..The hub popped off! Now I need to press it back in..but what has me perplexed is why the other half is still stuck on the knuckle? The bolts aren't holding it but it won't budge. Did I forget something?

I'll post pics up tomorrow but here is a pic I stole from Ritz.

If you use a hub puller the hub tends to separate from the base because the base is seized on there. It's pretty common considering how old our cars are. The same thing happened to me. I ended up using the hub puller on the base by taking 2 of the suspension arm bolts (because they are longer) and screwing them into the holes on the base. Put some PB blaster on there and it popped right out. I then took the hub and base to a local machine shop where they pressed them back together for $7. Good luck!

Take the bearing off the upright then just press the hub back into it. Nothing to worry about.

Same thing happened to me. I just got a wood chisel behind it and slowly worked it out. Each side a little at a time and it came off in about 10 minutes. Just another suggestion.

Were you able to take care of this?

I tried the chisel but the sucker is really rusted in place..the splash shield looks like it bonded w/ it?! I'm gonna try attaching two bolts to it this weekend. Hopefully it will surrender..my car loves to make things complicated. Then I gotta do the other side...yay

Wait till you have to tighten everything down... ;)

Have you taken a torch to it?

Also, when you put the rotor on, make sure you line up the e-brake adjuster on the rotor. It will have a slit in it for a flathead screwdriver and should sit flush with the rotor.

One step at a time..don't even want to think that far.

yo Dunkee, I'm having the same problem as you are. Can you post pics of how you did it? Thanks.

Wow what a pain in the ass that was. It was a fight of the weakest link and thankfully that wasn't me.

This is how I got it to budge..however I had to put washers in there for a better clamp.

It didn't pop it out though, I put a open washer in there and it bent the shit out of it instead. Also bending my rented loaner tool bc of the awkward position I put it in.

It did however budge a tiny little bit..and I was able to put the pry end of my hammer and hammer it out. Thank goodness

Now I did not use any rust penetrater or pb blaster so that prob would have made my life a little easier. I will use it on the other side though!

AYAYAI! How could you not use any PB blaster. No wonder... por favor mi amigo...

Cause I'm hardheaded and too lazy to go to store and get it. I figured liquid wrench would do the job :duh: I doused the other side w/ PB so hopefully it will take much less heartache.

So I finally got everything off..after a lot of cussing and tool slamming.. I just need to torque eveything on and put the pads on the calipers. I put my wheel on to finally be able to see what the finish product will look like. I likes..def worth the trouble so far. Can't wait to finally finish.
