Hey this is a question for the residents in the San Diego area. I am moving from San Jose area to San Diego for a job, and I am getting worried that i am going to have trouble with the police. I hear that they are more strict down there. I own a S13 hatch with an SR in it. I am starting a new job that I have to drive all over san diego area like solona beach, del mar, carmel valley chula vist, ect... can anyone give me a heads up on things to look out for. I also have a KAAZ 2 way thats loud as hell, I was thinking of getting less aggressive looking bodykit and wheels (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=142878#) but it pains me to change it...... thanks in advane.

to be real you should be ok down here man. Just dont do anything that will bring attention to yourself, and youll be just fine as you were in San Jose.

stay away from sdpd in carmel mountain and the sheriffs in san marcos. from my experience i just get pulled over just because of my exhaust. just make sure your car is decently mellow and you'll be fine. if you ever go through north county, the cops in escondido are pretty chill. surprisingly i havent had trouble with sdpd in mira mesa.

i havent had a problem with my kaaz 2way though. i've done tight turns in parking lots with cops watching me and they didnt do a thing.

in escondido cops dont trip to much on people with 240 but they dont like drunk drivers most people in the city of esco die cause of drunk drivers so be real careful when you are driving there, and if you do get stop chances are they just wanna see if your drunk and have a license but san marcos they do trip on the muffler thing and vista i think they dont care too much im not sure

just dont dick around and youll be fine. dont drive too much over the speed limit and stay with traffic.

you really dont need to worry about SDPD. you gotta worry about the thieves!

Thanks... yeah ive been hearing alot about stolen cars down there im gonna upgrade my alarm system....

I appreciate all of your inputs and opinions I am so scared to drive my car even up here that it is extremely rare that I even get on it a little bit. After a San Jose motorcycle cop gave me trouble for no reason at all.. he didnt pull me over but he made me stop on the road and he pulled up on my passenger side and started askin me what I had under my hood... I told him that I didnt have anything done and he got pissed off and told me not to lie to him..... :spank: I guess my Bride Zeta seat gave me away... damn. Anyway he just told me to drive slow and he took off. freaked me out.. It was worse than It sounds.

I am gonna be living in Solana beach, but my work like I said is going to be drivin all around to different homes all over san diego, so thank you i will look out in San Marcos and make sure Im quiet... My car is actually very quiet with the HKS high power exhaust just not when I get on it...

Im gonna try to make it to as many meets as possible to get to know some people down there..

Oh and are there any good tracks around for drifting...

I will be down there by the end of the month so I look forward to cruising down there... thanks

So I see that you are from San Jose and San Diego.. Nice what do you think NORCAL vs. SOCAL whats better in your opinion. I used to live in south Orange County in Aliso Viejo for high school so I know there is pros and cons of both... I like the back roads up north like hwy 9 and the trees, and socal has hot girls and nice beaches

i think escondido is more concerned with illegal immigrants and checkpoints more than anything right now. i've been seeing a couple of border patrol cars going in and out lately.

also, escondido is an excellent place to live aside from the fear of being hit by someone without insurance or a license. the city is closest to a lot of good backroads and to some of the popular spots people like to drive like palomar mountain.

del mar carmel valley and solana beach you seriously don't have to worry about cops chula vista is going to be the worst imo. but if you just blend in and drive safe then your cool. as for tracks they're all north in the la area, san bernidino is the closest it's like 1:30 away at the nos center, and willow springs is a good 3 hours. if your real worried buy a daily driver hyndai for 1000 bucks.

i also moved to san diego from san jose about 2 years ago and honestly. The cops here are about the same as they are in SJ. As much as i want to say dont worry, you probably should. In cali cops are getting more and more strict about modified vehicles. If you really are as worried as you are, id say just get a beater or something. But for the most part if you just obey traffic laws and dont do anything to stand out, you should be fine most of the time. However there are always those douchebag cops that will pull you over for some BS like no front plate and pop your hood. One thing i think you should worry about more in SD than SJ is theft. Get a quick release steering wheel or kill switch or something.

But i can honestly say that the import scene down here is very much like SJ. (pretty big). Hope to see you at Fuzion on tuesday's. Enjoy the beaches, the girls, the nightlife and of course SOCAL has all the cooler TUNER SHOPS!!

true theres alot of crazy roads from esco to valley center just driving there was fun to me...im purdy sure your gonna love sd its not too ghetto like la but not as peaceful as inland empire which is 1 hour away from sd i also did hear that sj and sd was almost the same but like i said thats what i heard.....ohh yeah one more thing geting in to sd is easy but geting out might be hard cause of the border patrol between riverside county and san diego county try not to be around there on friday and saturday night they stop everyone! so be very very careful
