WOW I had no clue those calculators held any other purpose besides being able to play video games in front of your teacher.

Of course they do, they are also good for cheating on tests and putting some important notes in. Only works in science classes and math classes though. But those formuals an stuff have really helped me get thru school.

Go to http://www.ticalc.org for all your gaming and educational programs. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I never figured out how to use the 89 though, So freakin complicated, and I sumhow always deleted the games on it.

Press the button with the green diamond on it and then press enter.

This thing is the sole reason I was able to pass calculus. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

I'd love to help, and i used to know all about 89's, but its been 3 years since i've had to use one. (back then i wrote tons of trig function programs for them, and would load them onto my classmates calculators for $10.00.) It was so user friendly, just run the prog, it would instruct you what givens to enter and spit out an answer <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Sorry, postwhoring, but those things were crazy fun in school.

-You might try looking at owners manual, its pretty straight-foreward.

this might be what you're looking for...

goto .mode., second page .F2. and towards the bottom you have three choices - approx, exact and auto....select "approx"....and that should give you all answers in dec. form..

to get a decimal approx instead of fraction all you have to do is put a decimal somewhere in your problem... ex: 4/5 would give 4/5 but 4/5.0 would give 0.8... I think thats what you meant, if not just ignore my post

TI-89's are wonderful. They are sooooo much easier to use than any other calculator once you get used to them, and htey can do so much more. All the calculus functions on them are amazing! God i like my 89. I almost cant wait for school to start in 8 days just so i can use it! hahah not really....
