View Full Version : height check....

I'm 6'3" and I'm thinking about getting a S14...I have sat in one before and the roof kinda hit's my head if I don't tilt the chair. Just wondering if you tall people regret getting a 240 because of it, will I be able to lower the height with a aftermarket seat...

im a hair under 6ft and have plenty of room if i move the base back a bit and barely recline it.
I think squishing backseat passengers are the only thing you have to worry about if you get an s14.
Aftermarket seat will lower you a bit as well.

I heard that some seats will actually raise the height. Just put a pillow on your current seats and see how it feels.

6'3" average torso; 95 s14 (w/ lumbar adj) w/ moonroof. It's TIGHT.
In an OEM seat, your head will graze if you get the moonroof. DON'T get that option if you can help it!!
Aftermarket seats generally raise you. The OEM seat is pretty much on the floor (about 1" b/n seat botton and floor).
I took apart my seat and removed about 1.5" of foam padding from it, which lowered my final seating position by .5-.75". Now I have a bit of room - but there is still a 50/50 chance my "do" will be mussed before I get anywhere.
If you plan to wear a helmet (i.e., autox, or track), you really shouldn't get a sunroof. Even w/ the shaved seat, I take about 3 minutes just getting my seat in place so I can crook my head just right to fit.

i'm 6'3'' 225lbs, so i'm plenty big. i have a 98 w/sunroof, and i wear a helmet in the car quite often. you can make it work, but you end up having to sit a bit farther back than you would like. if you're not doing any track driving, don't worry about it, it's not that bad. i've had the car for a year now, and i don't regret it.

Im about 6' and I fit perfectly in my 90 fastback, but my seat is sorta reclined, and I have some weird aftermarket seats, that look like seats that came from the plains of africa (striped).

6'1", and sitting in my S13 FB isn't cramped, but i've been sitting with the seat reclined. i can still have a helmet on, but it's a challenge to get in the car with it on.

I am 6'4" with a sunroof... yeah its a bit tight, but nothing i can't handle. With a helmet its pretty lame, her cocked to the side and shit.

I'm 6'0 myself. I don't own a 240 yet, but I have sat in one and it is fine as long as the seat is all the way back. True, you will not have much room for friends in the back, but thats what trunks are for.
You may laugh, but a friend of mine actually prefers the trunk to the back seat.. kinda strange, but he's from New Zealand.. what can you expect

bah, get comfortable with your shortness, it has advantages...
like a slowdance at a wedding with a 5'8-10" bridesmaid in heels (remember 5'4")
also, the short will one day rule the world, recall Napoleon (so what if he's french)
not to offend, but hitler wasn't of gigantic stature either, and he conquered his fair share
(blatantly ignoring the fact that all of the short wide ruling dictatorial types got their asses and countries handed to them in gigantic wars)

I'm 6'4" 205lbs longer legs.. I wear a 34-36" inseam. I find that I have to put the seat all the way back, and recline it a little (which I would do anyway) then I fit fine. of course my knee gets in the way when I try to do heel-toe shifting..

normal driving position is fine, you can just recline the chair a bit. put the seats upright for racing position with a helmet... major problem. I'd look for one without a sunroof, to maximize headspace. I have one, and it kills about 1/2" - 3/4" into the cabin.
two things you can do:
1. get really expensive Bride seats and low seat brackets
2. get rid of your seat brackets and bolt the seats directly to the floor or have a lower custom brackets made.
definitely don't get sparco, corbeau, cobra, etc seats. As someone else said, those actually sit higher than stock. If you can, look for R32 or R33 seats, I heard (not confirmed) that they sit lower? not too sure.

I'm 5'10" and my hair "grazes" the power moonroof. I have to have the moonroof all the way open in order for me to wear a helmet auto-x'ing, and still have to tilt a little to the right so the helmet will fit through. My bf's 6'5" and he has to recline the seat quite a bit to sit in it, or else his neck is crooked trying to drive. I love the moonroof, but you lose at least 1" of headroom with it.

[Jewish mother] You are NOT supposed to stick your helmet into or out of the sunroof!! VERY dangerous. Should you ever need that helmet, you could be in trouble. Imagine a side impact where your body goes left, but your head can't Around here, they won't let you run unless your sunshade is closed to keep tall people out of that area. [/Jewish mother]
Honestly, at your height, there ought to be some seat adjustment that will allow you proper seating position w/o the helmet sticking up there. Considering I can make it (and I've got a half a foot on you).
BTW: Good to see you back Lauren!
