Ok, Well I got the timing to what I "thought" was correct. Pulled Plug #1. Stuck a screwdriver in there. Got it to the top of the stroke = 0* on the crank puller mark. Cam Sprocket "dot" is parrellel to the top of the head. Dizzy is pointing at #1.
I pulled the oil pump because it was out 180*. Before it would start, but I would have to keep constant throttle or it would die.
Now it doesnt even start. You get the fluemp sound when trying to crank. Any idea's? I am getting super frustrated. Thanks.

Maybe you are not on the Compression Stroke when setting TDC? That would cause your car not to start.
Did you do a timing chain job or something?

Replaced a HeadGasket.
Isnt the Compression stroke when Cylinder #1 is at the top?

Remember the basics: suck, squish, bang, blow. 4 actions, 2 directions for a piston... 50% possibility you are on the exhaust stroke.
The easiest way I did was set the TDC with the valve cover off the car... this way you can verify which stroke it is by looking @ the valves.
*added info: all the valves should be closed ;)

Lemme go pop the valve cover and see where I stand. Thanks Man!

Well, I pulled the plug back out, put it back to TDC on the crank. Dizzy was still at #1.
However the head, instead of all the valves being closed when aligned, #2 exhaust valve was slighty lower then the rest?
It still wont start though.

Sounds like you may be 180 out to me. Both valves need to be closed on compression.
