ya well when i start my car it starts up good, kinda idles up and down (100rpm or so). when i slowly step on the gas it starts to hesitate around 2000-2500rpm and its good after that. i thought it was bad gas so i ran the gas out and refueled it with new gas. could the fuel filter be clogged or the fuel pump, and also would the timing be off?

Maybe theres a leak in the intake or vacuum line on the intake past the MAF.
Unmetered air could cause problems like that until high rpms.

I know it is not a 240 but my old 1990 300zx Z32 NA did that. it was the Knock Sensor. Couldn't hurt to pull ECU codes. 34 is knock sensor I believe.

I say check the MAF, check the intake for leaks, and check exhaust for leaks.

check your maf and vacuum lines. check your intake for any signs of cracking in the tube or holes even. cracks before the maf sensor is nothing. after the maf sensor could cause some problems.
why would it be a knock sensor??? knock sensors detect pinging or knocking.
d1 king- are you experiencing any of that and you forgot to state that?
only thing knock sensors do is retard the timing when the engine detects pinging or a knocking.

check vacuum lines between the engine and firewall, and the EGR vacuum lines. better yet, you might as well replace them, because they are old and hard. and will leak eventually if they arent already. most common place for a vacuum leak

so were you able to find out what the problem was? my car just started doing this.
i have all those signs except my car has a slight knock, and the exhaust smells like rotten eggs.
