So im very close to buying a 240sx. a black 1990. id love electronic locks and keyless entry (possibly an alarm, too) but im curious how much thatll set me back.
Option 1 : get the power lock stuff from a junkyard, and buy an alarm/keyless entry at best buy and gt them to install it.
Option 2: find some place to do it all.
im curious how much this will set me back, just for the manual-> power locks conversion, and if ill be able to do this myself. Also, about how much would option 2 set me back.
thanks
Cheers!

Manual to Power is pretty simple if you have the know-how and the right tools. Chances are that if you're asking, you're better off having an audio shop do it. It should set you back around $150 for the alarm with aftermarket doorlocks installed.

i think i can handle it. i just wnated to make sure they were the same doors and all that. the way i figured, it should be fairly easy, with the mounts or whatnot in place, and i jsut need to put them in, and wire them with the switches. How much do you think the door locks and switches would cost?

Look aroung on the NET. I have seen them for $10 per actuator. Do some research on the net. YOu might want to take it to a shop though. I was thinking about what you want to do, but I have decided to go with the shop.
BTW: I am more of the Do-It-Yourself type of guy too

I just bought 2 used doors for a total of $250 , including shipping, that have PW & PL. I'm just going to swap the whole door so I can keep the stock appearance and don't have to deal with mounting everything. Now if the guy would just send them I'd be good to go.

FYI I just went to BestBuy yesterday and they do the installation for free w/ purchace of any alarm. Then they will do the manual to power lock conversion while you have it in for an additional fee. All it takes is an actuator that they will use. I think it will set you back about $50 additional dollars. I have PL and PW so the alarm I am getting will automatically roll up my windows and lock the doors once the alarm is activated and all other types of high speed sheit
