white smoke could be a varitey of things. Such as moisture or unburnt fuel...

could be your valve seals, but as was stated above, it could be a variety of things

gas is going to be black... its not a color you can confuse... if your blowing out white smoke its coolant... get a leakdown test, most likely your head gasket is fucked. blue smoke(oil) is commonly mistaken for coolant(white) in which case i would guess valve seals or turbo if your boosted.

Did you by any chance upgrade your fuel pump?

you're right. unburnt fuel does come out of the exhaust as white smoke. any idiot ought to be able to tell the difference simply by smelling it. my advice to the original poster would be smell the white smoke coming out of his exhaust and decide whether its coolant or fuel, then go from there.

my unburnt fuel comes out a blackish brown and isnt very thick. Id say its coolant. If it smells kinda sweet its coolant.

I would say it could very well be water in the head. a friend of mines honda was blowin white smoke and it got to where it wouldnt start, when we went to go take the plugs out to pour gas in the cylinders to get it to crank(starting spary wouldnt work anymore) there was water condensating on the tips of the plugs so there was definitely water getting in the cylinders. we just had to tear his motor down and put a new head gasket on and have the head surface plained. It fixed the problem. I would definitely suggest that if you do put a new head gasket on, to make sure the head isnt warped, you can use a framing square to make sure it's level, if it isnt a machine shop will resurface it for you for pretty cheap and it helps bump up the compression a tiny bit. so you can't really go wrong.

good luck
