Does anyone know any good links on enthusiasts painting their own cars? So far everything I've come across has been more geared towards the professional environment.

I would spend the money for a decent paint job. It is worth the money for the time, expense and overall quality of the finished project.

This topic has been picking at my brain. I am more of a Do-It-Yourself type of guy. I have painted moldings and bumpers of my old cars and others as well. Though, I have not experienced painting a whole car yet. I told myself before that I was going to get a Professional Paint job on my S14. Now, I am reconsidering and I would like to gain the experience of painting the whole car myself. I do have most of the tools to accomplish this. But then again, do i really trust myself on the whole car that I love so much?? Most likely I am going to save up my $$$ and get it professionaly painted.

Too bad I didn't have a test car where I could practice painting the whole car. Anyone want to donate their car so I could pain it. I'll do a GREAT JOB....maybe

I totally agree if it's an expensive car... but I only paid $500 for my Mexican SE-R.... I'm not about to pay more for a paintjob than I did for the whole car. I'd rather learn how to paint it myself... sure the car is worth a lot more than $500, but it's the principle. I'd rather do the work myself (if I can do a half way decient job) and use the money for functional upgrades.

Btw, thanks for the link rampid360.

Hummm.... Ive thought about this too... but.... ive also considered those guys who have the stuff and say ya ill paint everything for $1500.... Now i doubt they carry a guarantee.... and it could be mint or it could be shit.... but for $1500 i could goto Macco and get the best job they could do with a warranty.... Worst comes to worst i say....Paint it agian boys...... I wish i had the cash for a $5000 job but right now I dont.... and If i did im sure paint would be on the bottom of my list.... But its gotta be done eventually
