I was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden I heard a pop. My car starts slowing down and whenever I try to accelerate it's really weak. It's misfiring and running really rough. It's like I'm running on a couple of cylinders. I thought I might have blown the motor but when pull over my car is still running but it just sounds like crap and the motor is shaking. No smoke is blowing out the exhaust. So the next day I test the compression but it's averaging 180 across all cylinders. No codes area appearing. I thought that the timing chain jumped a tooth but it checks out to be okay. I checked all the obvious stuff and there is nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing I can think of is that my distributor is acting up. The last couple of things I did to my car was change the oil, replace the o2 senors and replaced the dist cap/rotor. I did bring it to get Smog Check (that I failed) but I don't think the guy fudged with anything. Oh yeah I also switched from 91 to 87 octane and did notice that it wasn't as smooth. Any suggestions?!

ck...if there is spark from the plugs and if the injectors are working propery. make sure that none of them are either stuck open or closed

I replaced the distributor and spark plugs but it didn't make any difference. So I just replaced #3 and #4 injectors and now my car won't even start! What's the deal?!
