OK, well my new 240 doesnt have a factory alarm system or keyless entry, so I've gotta add one.
For those of you w/ aftermarket systems, what are you using and do you like it? And how much was it?
I am going to be living in a city real soon, so I want a good alarm. I also want a good range on the remote, and I'd like to have one w/ an extra output if possible. Would be cool to be able to put an automatic trunk opener in.
Lemme know if you have or know about any good systems.

Thanks a lot,
Greg

I believe the Viper system has that trunk opening optional. But I recommend CrimeGuard 745i, because its the cheapest system with loads of features...such as keyless entry, start kill and even pages u if someone is touching your car all at the cost of $200. But if you want to go all I would recommend the Clifford AvantGuard 4, its has way too many features....well to many for me...I think it cost around $400-$600.

Click here for some information on CrimeGuard 745i (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-JrJ4YRrt2rQ/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=2&g=801&I=514CG745I3)

GT spec R: Good taste in the alarms! I have had that clifford avantguard 4 in my mind since I bought my car. As soon as I repair my suspension, and get it to pass DEQ, I am getting one, WITH EVERYTHING BWAHAHAHA. the clifford comes with: remote start (yes! it works with a manual) and and a self powered siren. I think that means it has protected wires, and a back up battery. Anyway the thing is bad ass. I figured out the cost for all the stuff I want. it was like $650 installed:

self powered siren.
Keyless entry
Remote starting (manual)
Sensors on: Doors, hood, hatch, all 4 shocks.
Window control, up and down.
Parking lights
Interior lights
Starter and fuel pump disable
Maybe other sensors: Windows, windshield & hatch glass, proximity, Body panels

Yeah I know, it will do everything but a BJ! lol

EDIT: I added the first sentince.

I want the avantguard4, but then again I dont have power windows or door locks. I think that makes it a bit trickier for keyless entry. Oh did I mention I dont have power mirrors either? Not like theres a power mirror controll button on the key chain, but I thought I would make myself known.

I am right now in the market for a good security system. I haven't yet decided what to go w/ but want quality. I think the Viper will be the one but I have to think about it and consider my options

How does the remote start with manuals? In other words what gear are you supposed to leave the car in, and how do you get around the pressing the clutch thing? Or does it say on the site an I am just to lazy to look myself?

Well for the remote start. You keep the car in nuetral. And it activates ther clutch safty switch. If you look on Toyota pick ups. They have a clutch overide button so you dont have to push in the clutch to start the truck. Its kinda like on an auto, It has a neutral safty switch so the car wont start in drive or reverse. Hope that kinda explains it for ya Kidynomite

Well if you are a budget minded driver like I am, go with the Clifford Arrow 3. It is still a great product, just less features that the Clifford AvantGaurd 4. Both G4 technology so you are in good hands. Im going to get the Arrow3.

And than I knew a guy hat had one that you could rev up by pressing the start button after it was already started.
