it reminds me of a tvr, but damn 60 mpg @56 i wonder what it gets @ 80..if it gets like 40 mpg @ 80 that would be ridiculous...i'd buy it...fast and doesnt waste gas....damn

axiomatik

kind of goofy looking, like a caricature of a TVR. How the hell do they get 60 mpg out of a 6.6L V8?

edit - must be a diesel, max power @ 3100 rpm. with an 8-speed tranny, it probably idles at 60 mph.

i dont get how they can get that much power without more gas?
but none the less...great engineering i guess...

i would like to see some proof though.

To bad most people who are spending 120k on a car dont really care much about gas mileage...I definitely would like to see that technology make it down to medium normal car size though.

its a diesel and has some crazy 8 speed auto to stay in the power band.. they run it on biodiesel too i think.. another site said 50mpg.. either way.. thats fantastic.. kevlar body.. stainless steel chassis plus its got some d's on that bitch

yeah, it's gotta be a diesel. aside from the aformentioned peak power, the common rail direct injection fuel system, iron block (on a sports car), and huge torque. this kinda gives it away too.
http://trident-racing.co.uk/images/stories/racecar/icenir131005%20056.jpg

to add a grain of salt to those specs, it certainly doesn't get 60mpg while doing 0-60 in 4 seconds. and those numbers aren't EPA mileage either. it's at a constant 56mph, which is probably it's most efficient speed. EPA testing uses some variation in speed and throttle that drop the rating a bit. those numbers aren't really that impressive really, a normal sedan that has an EPA raiting of 30mpg might get as much as 40-50mpg on a flat road and constant throttle.

true, but endurance racers do, like audi's R10.

The MPG you see at car dealerships on stickers is total bullshit, especially on Hybrid vehicles. this will all be changing in the near future. They are going to change the way the MPG is formulated so people stop getting mislead.

axiomatik
04-16-2007, 07:03 PM
Or at least not misled as much. The EPA mileage estimates was never really meant to give you a perfectly accurate prediction of what mileage you would get, but was meant as a tool to compare various cars. Of course hybrids came along and screwed it all up.

04-16-2007, 07:04 PM
^yeah hybrid cars dont really get great mileage....lol we bought on 07 camry and the sticker says 32 on the freeway...when my mother drives it (she drives speed limit with minimal throttle) it does get like 30-31 miles but lets say i drive it and i dont do a constant speed i vary the speed and have a more heavier throttle that thing guzzles gas like a 6 cylinder should....

man a car like that and could save gas!?! it's all I could ask for. Loving it.

wow only an 8-speed gearbox you would think they would add in some more gears shit I kinda was hopeing 11 or something

is that camry a hybrid? my wife used to own a 94 taurus (v6). cruising along on the highway at 60-65 we'd get about 34 mpg.

Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel, 97% cleaner then regular diesel. The new 08's are using this for the first time now.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/how-clean-diesel-fuel-works1.htm

It makes things more complex and therefor more expensive, but its clean(er)

The work it takes to produce the energy to charge an electric car pollutes more than just driving a regular gasoline powered car.

that's debatable (it depends where the electricity comes from) but it's something many people conveniently ignore.

if 10 percent of america drove electric cars it would blow the power grid every night when people plugged their shit in

Wrong.

This is a common misconception. The amount of energy required to power an electric car is cleaner then gasoline-burning cars.

The demand will always be met with supply.

which is why the power was so reliable in california a few years ago.

increased demand from electric cars could cause problems, but they are mostly charged at night when demand is low anyway.

electric cars are bogus. maybe if we level africa and fill it with windmills maybe we could roll electric cars. stop reading wikipedia and beating off to "clean horsepowerz"

do any of you fanboiz care to address the issue of the fact that the batteries go out in like 5 years and they have no idea how to dispose of them and they just put them in the ground toxic waste style

ill be dead before they run out of melted dinosaurs so i dont care

You do not necessarily need to run strictly electric to help a lot with our environment. Hydrogen fuel cells powering the electric motors could work. There are so many options and possibilities, you guys are just haters. If the USA put its defense budget into helping the nation we might actually be able to push dramatically forward instead of holding still. We need to abandon fossil fuels completely. Regarding using wind power only, there is tons of sun and also the entire ocean. Seaweed can be grown to be used for power, the waves can be harnessed for energy, there are tonnnsssss of options. Not happenin next week but come on ya haters

60 mpg @ 56 mph. Who the hell would drive that thing 56 mph? The speed limits are generally 65 in the US and even then people normally drive btw. 70 and 80mph anyways. I wanna know mpg at 75mph.

Here and now the lies stop, all you hippies who think electric cars are so fantastic should read this article and educate yourselves, not to mention get out of the aftermarket tuning scene.

so people are hippies for not wanting to kill the world? An electric car would have better performance potential then a petrol one anyway so maybe you should fuck off wanker

My greatest idea ever is to build a watermill that makes electricity and powers itself to constantly recirculate its own water. Neverending power! :)
