recently every time I stomp on it, there's that horrible smell, and the longer I race it (going through multiple gears and farther towards redline) the worse it gets. it's since I popped on my bosal brospeed 247-111 muffler I think (keeping with stock exhaust piping though). Maybe outlets are too wide and there's an improper mixture? That's what I've heard - rotten egg smell is not from the cat (a common misconception) but from improper mixture. Please any help thanx

that's normal. well at least normal for a 240. when you floor it, the ECU goes full rich and dumps fuel throught the injectors. this is too rich for the cat to effectively catalyze, and you are left with a sulfurous odor. it should go away in a short while of "normal" driving again. if you get a high-flow cat, this should help a bit.

I've found mine only does that when the cat hasn't warmed up fully, like WOT up the on ramp a mile from work if I don't catch any red lights.

makes even more sense. cat isn't ready to go yet and therefore can't do it's job. perfect. thanks steve-o
