i searched and couldn't really come up with a solid answer for my question. right now im running over 400whp on stock rods with cp pistons and all other supporting mods. what i want to know is what stock rods can handle, right now im on a 3076r and may jump to a 35r in the near future. with this power will jump, not an insane amount on pump, but it will obviously jump. if i have to im going to do rods, but if not im going to hold off for a few months. as of yet i have run quite a few sr's hard and pushed alot of power and have yet to see a rod fail. if anyone can give me some good examples of power output on stock rods, or what they should be rated at i would appreciate it.

well I mean all that we really have to go by in (500hp+ clubs) or at least people Ive read about (because i drive a mini-van) jk, haha but they should be supportive of racing in 450whp ranges no problem.

The thing is you can rate rods or spinning pieces of the engine by HP, you can rate them under stresses, like toruqe, heat, speed (piston speed) impacts etc.

The stock rods in my Personal experiecne have never failed even with what should be seen some extreme situations and even with extremely bad rod bearing failure, the rods didtn come lose or snap or twig.

I would say unless your looking for wheel TORQUE outputs in the 475 ft lb range that stock rods will suffice, even for exteneded racing (not just dyno pulls and drag racing).

Many names have been brought up in a tread in Freshalloy.com, Advanced 240sx' unraveling sr20 mythssection with regards to actual dyno numbers, some making over 600whp ranges on container bottomends on good quality dynos, only to find the weakpoint in the SR engine in the valve train.

Im with steve, if your tune is ok, then the strength of the rods is probably not going to be the weak link of your setup. The stock rods are quite good and will take a ton of abuse at elevated power levels.

thats what i figured, i had a friend pushing 500whp and 450ish wtq on stock rods, but the car was more of a garage queen than anything. my tuner is great with power fc, and the car is running top notch as it sits. now the only debate for myself is if i really need the extra power or if im just getting greedy? only time will tell i guess.

thanks for the input again guys!
