View Full Version : Completely Stock s14 won't crank...bad starter?

I went to start my daily driver, a totally stock 95 s14 and nothing, the starter won't turn on. I hear the relays in the kick panel activating and a slight clicking sound from the engine bay (only if clutch depressed when trying to start). Yesterday the starter sounded a little weak, but started the car.

This problem reminds me when the battery had a loose connection, but not this time. I've tried bypassing the clutch switch and jump starting the car...nothing. The fuses in the engine bay look fine.

I'm thinking the starter itself might be bad, is there any way to check it without pulling it out of the car?

get some one to try to start the car while you hit the starter with something like a screwdriver handle. if it starts then the starter is going.
