considering a 1jz swap for my next 240...wondering if anyone has ever used the tech2 motorsports swap kit...looks pretty sick, it says its supposed to make the 1jz fit pretty easily any reviews about the kit/company would help and for all of you who want to do the swap this should eliminate alot of the custom fabrication http://www.tech2motorsports.com/modules.php?name=catalog&file=product_info&products_id=144

Yeah I plan on doing the 1jz swap but I'm not going to use their kit, I personally think it's a rip off. The Crossmember just has the motor mount pedestals cut down and rewelded, the trans mount is nothing special that I couldnt weld up myself, and the driveshaft could can be made by any driveshaft place for less than 400 bux. It is still not a drop in kit though. You need custom IC pipes, the Shifter has to be extended because it does NOT line up, a custom DP, tachometer conversion box, speedometer conversion box, custom clutch line.....and I feel as if I'm missing something? Oh yeah, wiring is easy, 6 wires need to be tied into the body harness to make it run. Anyways, If you dont have access to a welder I guess it is a alright kit. Still overpriced for me. I will be starting a build thread once I get my motorset in about a month, I will try to do step by step.

yeah a good write up would be helpful, yeah im going to see if i can get it done cheaper, how much are you estimating your swap will cost in total? i may try to part out my SR to get a 1jz for my next 240 if it can be done for a decent price

There is a member on this forum who already did that swap. Maybe he can help you with more info.

From what I understand, Duy who has a 2J in his S14 was saying all you need to do to mount the motor in there is simply slot the existing mount holes in the stock S14 crossmember, use a combination of the nismo and supra mounts, and then make a tranny mount...
So you may want to look into that and save yourself 1100 or 1500$ or whatever Tech 2 charges..

Adding up the cost of the major components needed to get it running, and some other things I would like to get, I figured about 5000. As I get going, we will see how close I really am with this ***Estimate***

1jz motorset 2200
Koyo radiator for KA 290
SPAL Electric Fans 200
Driveshaft from Denny's Driveshaft 400
Intercooler (Cheapo) 230
FMIC Custom Piping 100
Walbo Fuel Pump 85
Custom Clutch Line 50
Complete Custom Exhaust 500
Motor Mounts 75

I think that was about it, but I had some optional things I wanted to get as well. The stock Y-pipe on the twins is crap, its restrictive as a mofo, there is a good one on ebay that people have great reviews on, its 275 shipped. Don't forget about some of things you would get if you were doing a SR swap like gauges, Wiring(if your not doing it yourself), Turbo timer, boost controller, and also with the JZ engines you need to get a Boost Cut something or other to take off the XXpsi boost limit the ecu has built into it. Obviously you may want to consider a new clutch and factor in the various fluids, spark plugs and other things you will be running to your local autoparts store to get.
